The reasons are varied, I imagine. Humans tend to think everybody ELSE is the bad guy. But they and their loved ones are not bad enough to go to hell.
Which brings us to their understanding of what constitutes hell. Since most feel it is a place of unending torment, they tend to think that everybody else goes there but not their loved ones. Have you ever noticed at funerals - televised and private - that the deceased has always gone "home" to heaven? Ever noticed that the eulogy is full of praise and recounting all the wonderful things done by the deceased?
Moreover, people are given a "choice" between eternal bliss in heaven and eternal agony in hell. Since that is what they believe, would anybody in their right mind think their loved one was in hell?
I remember the eulogy given by the minister at my father's funeral. My father had absolutely nothing to do with anything remotely spiritual. He was not a bad person, really. He simply did not worship God in any form or fashion. Had not been to a church in decades. Yet the minister preached him right on into heaven.
My beloved father is in hell. There are things he did in connection with the truth that leads me to believe he will be among the "unrighteous" of whom Paul spoke that will attain a resurrection. Acts 24:15.
But there is no way that my father is in heaven. He is, however, in the Bible hell. Quite asleep. And feeling nothing. Just the way Lazarus felt nothing in hell before Jesus resurrected him.

No one can know who is going to hell and who is going to heaven. I would think that any inyelligent Christian of sound mind knows this. Many people appear to live righteous and blameless lives, but still may not be faithful, or still be sinners.
I believe in Christ, but I am still a sinner. What is my fate? I hope and pray that I will be welcomed into heaven, into God's loving arms when I die. But I cannot know for sure.

Nobody of the dead persons are not in the so called Hell at present time, until judgement will come, after the judgement all sinners who were not forgiven will be thrown to the lake of fire to be burn to ashes and dust. The dust of your body will be serve as food for the snake who enticed Eve to commit sin against God.
All living humans are bound to commit sin. Nobody of us is perfect.

I do not kjnow this at all and it not my place to judge. I do know that some of my brothers have rejected God and therefore, if they die still rejecting Him, they will probably end up in Hell. However, God knows their hearts and minds, I do not. It follows the same reasoning that someone would think that all members of a church will go to Heaven.

I think it's very possible that they did go to hell but hell is not forever as in "time without end." I believe there is no time in the afterlife and a moment there can be like thousands of years. Jesus died for everyone and his salvation has no expiration date so everyone in hell can still be saved and will be eventually. There is still hope for those who go to hell when they die.

It's up to God who's going where, BUT if one 'dies' in Christ, then we are assured of Heaven.
I have no idea about most of my ancesters, and their mindset except for one, who was a 'hellfire and brimstone' Preacher.
I do not feel the same as you, as I *know* that I have family members who have no CLUE about the knowledge of Jesus, let alone, the importance of The Holy Spirit.

you, just like a lot of other pissed off people, have once again lumped all christians into one catagory. Heaven or Hell is between God and the individual. We have no right to say one way or the other.

This is the opposite of my experience. Sadly I see a number of my relatives in danger of hell. I pray for them, and hope that God will be merciful.

Oh....I am pretty sure that there will be plenty of my family in hell....
What ever gave you the idea that most Christians think their families are in heaven??? That seems odd....

That's what you call having faith. Faith in the integrity of their loved one, and faith in their own perception that they could not have been that much deceived. Or maybe faith in god's forgiveness. But it's faith. Without faith, they would not worry about heaven and hell.
