I just read a billboard that said, "No Jesus, no peace." Really? So the peace I get from taking care of my four year old daughter, that's not actually real? Oh and I guess it's much more peaceful to disown family members that are gay or have stopped worshiping God.

Christianity accepts Jesus as the Savior of the world. Because Jesus is the Savior and not man, salvation has to be by faith. Counting on the work of Christ--his atoning death for my sins gets me into heaven. I think the idea of faith with works made up by the Catholics and Orthodoxy is wrong and makes no sense in Christianity because Jesus is the Savior and not man.

But not offended by the thought that we were created by a being to worship Him. A being that wiped out almost all of humanity once, and promises to do it again. A being who created us in world of suffering, intolerance, and struggle.

Yet you are offended by the thought that you are an updated version of an ape, I mean the similarities are there, from shape, to DNA.

I just don't get how being God's creation seems better than evolving from ape-like ancestors.

Think about.

God tells us not to have any sexual thoughts about anyone except for our spouse

Mathew 5:28 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart"

This would leave are your sexual energy for one person.

God tells us to give our bodies to eachother and to not deprive oursleves.

1 Corinthians 7:5
Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer

Sounds hot to me.

Christains think everyone who repents from the heart are the sheep, non-Christians are the goats.

Throughout the world and throughout time, most people and societies have believed in a 'God' of some sort. THAT, is an observable scientific/historical FACT ,it deserves study in a rational scientific approach , rather than a simplistic dissmissal.
The analogy of the flying teapot is childish too: There is no evidence that countless societies and cultures have believed in a flying teapot, there is evidence that countless independant cultures and societies have believed in a supernatural creator 'God' as a way of explaining their existence. There is a reason and primitive logic why they might believe in a God. There is no reason or logic why we might believe in a flying teapot, the analogy is a poor one for Dawkins to borrow. Agree?

My mother and I are having issues. I'm a constant disappointment to her. She's moving tomorrow and I don't want to be around her because all she will do is bring me down and point out everything I have ever done wrong. It really hurts and I just don't want to deal with the negativity when I already have enough on my mind. Is there something I can do to help my situation with my mother? I feel stupid asking this, but maybe a spell or something?And I dont' mean like something that would completely fix the problem, but may something that would give out positive energy? Hell, I don't know what I'm asking! LOL I'm new to the Wiccan religion so forgive me if I sound like an undereducated idiot. LOL Thanks!

It has been years since I red the OT. Am reading it now, just did the books of Moses and I feel like I cannot justify this stuff with the beliefs that I have been raised in. Am depressed and baffled. What's worse---I am sorta Jewish, and always thought Jews are smart---I am smart---but none of this stuff makes any sense to me anymore. It seems like gibberish.

All the time I hear well if we came from monkeys why are there still monkeys
First of all I came from my mom and pop but they didn't automatically disappear forever when they had me of course.

Second of all why would you want to get rid of monkeys like that? Geez man monkeys are funny! Especially the ones that wear suits and act like little men.
I myself think they watched the Wizard of Oz and saw the evil flying monkeys and thought "Gee whiz! Monkeys really are Satan spawn! That ugly one just hurt Mr.Scarecrow!"

I have a problem to face.I believe that Jesus will take care of it and then I worry about the situation.Deep down I know Jesus will take care of it but it still bugs me and I think is this going to work out.And at the last minute Jesus comes through.And I feel like I knew He would and I praise and worship Jesus but I always do that.But what is that worrying stuff about?

In the bible, there is the following:
A certain ruler asked, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered, "You know the commandments, do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.""All of these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. I assume when Jesus says "Come follow me" he means become my desciple. But earlier in the bible, Jesus says:

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brother and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple...In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple."
-Luke 14:26-33
So God wants us to hate everyone and love everyone. What does he mean?
