14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

We all know that Pluto (A dog) was Mickey mouse's (A mouse) pet, so that must mean that Mice are more evolved than dogs, which is incorrect, bringing Evolution crumbling down to a dusty rubble, and Atheists coming out all dirty but soon washed with the light of truth.

Ever since i can remember, as a little girl, i went to church, and did everything i was supposed to do. But as i grew up, i started to slowly depart from God. Now, i feel as if i don't even have a relationship with God anymore. I've lisened to soo many preaches and now it's like I already know all that stuff and I don't feel as if i need it anymore- in another words, i feel "numb" to the Word of God. I need some help- I know i have to get back on track with my relationship, but i don't know how.- and when i pray, it's as if i;m talking to myself... I need some serious advice. (please no silly answers, and no "turn to islam" advices, please. Thank you.)

I've heard many Christians express a desire to see the world end as the Bible describes. Some even approve of influencing world events and politics to expedite the apocalypse.

Meanwhile, God clearly instructed Christians to commit to a peaceful spread of the gospel, and a compassionate attempt to convince others to abandon "sinful" behaviors.

However, the Bible also says that as armageddon nears, humanity will progressively debase their societies and themselves, becoming increasingly sinful in nature.

Stay with me here. If Christians accomplish God's task of witnessing, and Christianity spreads worldwide, then the events that lead up to the apocalypse could not happen. Conversely, the arrival of armageddon means we've failed at God's task.

It's similar to in the Garden of Eden when He forbids Adam and Eve to eat the apple simply because He knew they will. Why would God give a task that He doesn't want completed? Is it a plot device? Can anyone explain this paradox?

Any parent who has a child die, could tell you that they would far rather go through death, torture, than watch their child die. A beating and an afternoon on a cross would be horrible, but most of us would do it for our child - to say nothing of the deaths of all of our children.

Objectively speaking, since god allowed satan to take out all of Job's children, didn't Job suffer more?

Lebanese and other Muslims are only too happy to support violence against others as long as it doesn't happen to them.
It doesn't work that way. You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Jesus did not call them Abraham's children, but a "brood of vipers" [Matt. 3:7]. Oh, that was too insulting for the noble blood and race of Israel, and they declared, "He has a demon' [Matt 11:18]. Our Lord also calls them a "brood of vipers"; furthermore in John 8 [:39,44] he states: "If you were Abraham's children ye would do what Abraham did.... You are of your father the devil. It was intolerable to them to hear that they were not Abraham's but the devil's children, nor can they bear to hear this today.

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

Learn from this, dear Christian, what you are doing if you permit the blind Jews to mislead you. Then the saying will truly apply, "When a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into the pit" [cf. Luke 6:39]. You cannot learn anything from them except how to misunderstand the divine commandments...

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

Therefore be on your guard against the Jews, knowing that wherever they have their synagogues, nothing is found but a den of devils in which sheer self-glory, conceit, lies, blasphemy, and defaming of God and men are practiced most maliciously and veheming his eyes on them.

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

Moreover, they are nothing but thieves and robbers who daily eat no morsel and wear no thread of clothing which they have not stolen and pilfered from us by means of their accursed usury. Thus they live from day to day, together with wife and child, by theft and robbery, as arch-thieves and robbers, in the most impenitent security.

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

However, they have not acquired a perfect mastery of the art of lying; they lie so clumsily and ineptly that anyone who is just a little observant can easily detect it.

But for us Christians they stand as a terrifying example of God's wrath.

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

...but then eject them forever from this country. For, as we have heard, God's anger with them is so intense that gentle mercy will only tend to make them worse and worse, while sharp mercy will reform them but little. Therefore, in any case, away with them!

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

However, we must avoid confirming them in their wanton lying, slandering, cursing, and defaming. Nor dare we make ourselves partners in their devilish ranting and raving by shielding and protecting them, by giving them food, drink, and shelter, or by other neighborly acts...

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

If we wish to wash our hands of the Jews' blasphemy and not share in their guilt, we have to part company with them. They must be driven from our country.

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

They [rulers] must act like a good physician who, when gangrene has set in proceeds without mercy to cut, saw, and burn flesh, veins, bone, and marrow. Such a procedure must also be followed in this instance. Burn down their synagogues, forbid all that I enumerated earlier, force them to work, and deal harshly with them, as Moses did...

If this does not help we must drive them out like mad dogs.

-Martin Luther (On the Jews and Their Lies)

Please don't anyone take this as an attack against religion, I'm asking because I am ligitimately curious. How did you become whatever you are as far as religion goes? Were you raised into certain beleif, was it a life experience that turned you too a certain religion? I know for myself it was my involvement in emergency services that ultimately turned me away from religion, what made you realize what religion was right for you?

The current majority of Christians seems to fail to understand what 'equal rights' mean when it comes to freedom of religion.

One particular god (the Christian one) is clearly favoritized in our western society.

Allowing one god in schools, means all gods AND no god in schools. Allowing one god on a pledge, means allowing all gods but also no god on a pledge. That is what religious freedom and equality is all about.

I can understand how somebody who is always raised with the beliefs in only this 'majority God' can't fully understand the concept of religious freedom. I do see many ex-Christians understand this concept, because they've seen both ways.

Would Christianity understand religious freedom better if many ex-Christians found their way back to Christianity?

Just got this from my last answer and wanted some clarification.

"If you mean bending over a few choir boys or strapping a bomb to your *** and blowing yourself up and taking as many with you as you can. for no real reason, I guess I go with choir boys who now fart quietly."

So youre saying that molesting a choir boy is better than strapping bombs to ones chest, so obviously the Christian religion is better.
Am I understanding this correctly?

So many christians throughout history have said the end of the world is near, Jesus is coming, and that its going to happen within their lifetime.

Jerry Falwell, John Hagee, and Pat Robertson were not the first. Christians started predicting the end of the world since the first century.

By the way, I remember seeing a black and white video of Pat Robertson and a buddy of his since before they had gray hair. Even in that video, they were predicting the end of the world.

where did the stories of pre-jesus, post old testament life come from in the books of the gospel? it's not as if jesus' disciples followed him around his entire life and before. so the gospels according to matthew, mark, luke, and john had to have gotten this info from somewhere. well, matthew anyway. the other three were pretty much their own take on his account of jesus' life, slightly embellished that is. so where did matthew find these stories of jesus' pre-life?

From the Biblical assertion that "God is love", through the modern conception as the sex act to a denial that it even exists as an emotion, love means many things. What, apart from the dictionary definition of it, does love deeply mean to you?

Ok, so the Real ID act of 2005 was hidden in between the "war on terror" and tsunami relief and passed 100-0 in the senate.

This act says that by 2008 (they're giving extra time to states who request it until 2009) citizens will need this US ID that contains tons of information (ss#, address, birth info, TRACKING device, etc.) It is OPTIONAL, but those who don't get it won't be able to, among other things, get financial services/bank accounts, employment, be able to ride on airplanes, and won't be able to enter federal buildings.

For those of you who read the Bible or are interested in end times sort of stuff, this seems all too familiar. Ironically enough, where is all this found?

In addition, the federal Social Security Administration, (42 USC section 666! (28)), requires the States to maintain a new hire directory. Employers would no longer be able to accept, or ultimately hire, bearers of non-compliant documents for employment.

So many questions about religion are met with hostile answers and so many are asked to mock religion rather than to gather information. Why?

What purpose does it serve to attack or mock other people? And don't blame the Christians either, because the non-Christians are just as bad or worse.

And I'm sure that I'll get replies that Christians are always in your face, or trying to convert you. Rubbish. I see it constantly on here (and in the real world) from BOTH sides. And the arguement makes no sense anyway because if you want the Christians to leave you alone, why ask questions about Christianity?
