So many christians throughout history have said the end of the world is near, Jesus is coming, and that its going to happen within their lifetime.

Jerry Falwell, John Hagee, and Pat Robertson were not the first. Christians started predicting the end of the world since the first century.

By the way, I remember seeing a black and white video of Pat Robertson and a buddy of his since before they had gray hair. Even in that video, they were predicting the end of the world.

ANOTHER QUESTION.

Do christians on this board really buy the argument the end of the world is going to happen within their lifetime?

Nah...it's not for us to know the time nor the hour. Anyone who tries to predict that is overzealous.

Recall Proverbs:

Without knowledge, even zeal is not good.

Christians know that no one knows. Anyone who says they know is a liar. Jesus made it clear that no one would know except our father in heave, and that no one could predict it.

Christians do not worry about the end times anyway. They will not be affected, at least not permanently. Christians live for each day. They build upon their relationship with God and each other.

Christians operate upon a principal of love (agape). The rest is pointless speculation. Why get into foolish arguments that mean nothing?

I am 47 yrs old. I can't STAND hearing the "end of time" speech. My grandma (God rest her soul) who was born in 1900 used to talk about how they said when she was young that it was the end of time. Obviously not. But I will tell you...if you are a believer in Jesus and God....then you must know that many of the verses have or are coming true. I may not see it in my lifetime (coz I could die tomorrow), but I believe that my grandchildren or great-grandchildren will see it. But I do see so many signs now!!

It's not just Christians. People from diverse religions seem never to tire of end of the world prophecies. You can read a huge list of them at the link below.

Yes, I am sick of these End of Days/End of Word/Armageddon/Left Behind/Rapturist preachers. They should focus on showing people how to live their lives as a Christians and to do it out of love of God, not out of fear of God casting you into the eternal pits of hell when Jesus comes to judge.

It really doesn't matter how Jesus will come again or when he will come again. All that really matters is that I have the "heart of a child." If I truly have that, I will know who the anti-Christ is if he is alive today.

I really can't say it all doesn't start to sound a little redundant after a while but I think the idea is to live every day as if it could happen ( in other words, be prepared) I don't pretend to know when the world will end, but I try to live my life in such a way that if it does happen in my lifetime I am prepared.

The end of the world? I don't recall the end of the world sermons. I recall that Jesus can return any second, but that is not the end of the world.

I remember the old 700 club with Ben Kinchlow (sp?). But I don't remember any predictions of the world ending. Hmmm

Those End of World preachers have been doing it for thousands of years. We know that they are False Prophets, but they make a lot of money doing it. They give you fear and then offer a solution to the fear that they instilled. They are taught the technique in Bible School.

People who preach that the end is near,do not know diddly!
The Lord states in His word that no man knoweth when He will return, not even the angels of heaven, but that we will see & hear signs of the end times.
We are to be sober & watchful so God does not catch us with our pants down!
No preacher or religion can predict when Jesus is returning, only to warn us of the results when He does come back!
