There seems to a lot of refining going on these days.......we will reflect
His image someday so hold fast.

:Malachi 3:3 says "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what
this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and
get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to
watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her
interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire
and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to
hold the

I am a committed Catholic and became very religious about 6 years ago. For the past 2 years my prayer life has died away, I feel little to no emotion, I don't want to go to church anymore (but I still do out of devotion to God), I seriously question one or two teachings of the Catholic Church. Above all, I feel a sense of alienation from God. I still pray, although it feels empty when I do, like I'm not talking to anyone. Any thoughts?

..and also for those who may live in Utah, or know someone who is LDS. This is meant in good, light-hearted fun. I think every once in a while we need a break from all the arguing/bashing that takes place. No reason to get offended, as I am LDS myself :D

You might be a Mormon if... all your dishes have your name written on them with masking tape.

You might be a Mormon if...you postdate your checks while shopping on Sunday.

You might be a Mormon if...you believe Heck is the place for people who do not believe in gosh.

You might be a Mormon if...your Mom was pregnant at your sister's wedding reception.

You might be a Mormon if...you pray that your food might "nourish and strengthen your body" before eating doughnuts.

You might be a Mormon if... you think Jell-O is one of the basic food groups.

You might be a Mormon if...at least one of your salad bowls is at a neighbor's house.

If you assume that claims of divinity and miracles were foisted on the memory of Jesus decades after his death by men who had a vested interest in deifying him, what do the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) reveal?

If you replace the words "God" and "Father" with the word "Love" do you find wisdom worthy of the name?

Can we say Jesus was a wise and loving man who tried to help his people find the power of Love that resided in their hearts?

Was he crucified because he came so close to freeing his people of the Fear that held them under the sway of the powerful who ruled?

I'll keep this question open for the week, so that you might have a chance to read the gospels in this way and return to answer.

See for yourself if what I say is true.

This obviously has to do with R&S, 'cause I'm talking about the section itself. So it belongs here. Rawr.

But I am thinking of leaving this section of Yahoo! Answers. I don't know. I don't feel all too welcome, and I feel like my answers and questions moreso piss off people than make them think or answer their question sufficiently.

Chances are that if you're reading this, you've never given me a best answer, either, 'cause apparently I just don't ever have the right answers.

So, yeah.

I'm thinking of leaving R&S... should I or shouldn't I, based on the information I've provided and any other information you've known of me as well?

Even though the Caste System is actually not part of the Hindu religion, but was a product of Indian culture and society and actually did not come into existence thousands of years after the vedic religion was being practiced, Do you agree that the caste system (especially in relation to how it was abused) was partly responsible for the Islamic invasion of India.

The caste system served to keep the Indian civilisation divided and precluded unity and cohesion as well as Hindu brotherhood and love. That is why Indian lands were a state of warring kingdoms, which the Muslim invaders and trespassers exploited to conquer India. Do you agree that had the caste system not been in place, Islam would have never been able to invade India and to this day the entire population of Pakistan and Bangladesh would have still been Hindu.

Afterall they are only Muslim because it was forced on them by the invading Mughals.

We have been friends for ten years, since freshman year in college. We have not lived in the same city since. We are both artists. She has been "interested" in me before but I am not, but we still stay friends. She sends me an email at least once every other day and calls every four or five days or so. That is too much for me. I am a recluse. If I don't respond she says I am being a bad friend. I don't want to ditch her, but how can I be polite and create some distance?

To make this R&S compliant, she was an atheist and my discussions with her led to her conversion to Christianity ten years ago. So there.
