I am an Atheist. I do not know of a specific person(s) who misrepresents my (lack of) religion but I can think of a group of people. There are many Atheists who openly insult other religions (mainly Christians) for their beliefs and call them stupid, delusional, etc. While I do admit to some snide remarks on my own behalf, I try my best to keep such comments and thoughts to myself unless otherwise provoked. I see many Atheists posting questions here on Yahoo! Answers R&S section that are quite rude toward religious people and very insulting. While I do see the same on the other side, it makes all Atheists look bad when posts like these are made as it only confirms what many religious people already think of us. There are many Atheists on this forum though who show that we are caring and moral people and I am greatful for them. There are bad apples in any group, not just religious groups but cultures, races, genders, etc. that can make the bunch seem rotten but there are good ones too.

Another group I would have to say would be those who claim to be Atheist who are really just 'angry with God'. Those people make it look like all Atheists are just confused and religious people tend to think that all Atheists are troubled and 'angry with God' when, in reality, (most of us) have taken an objective look and researched all kinds of different religions and made an educated decision about what we believe.

I can't think of a single person offhand, but anyone who becomes rigid and intolerant in their beliefs. They not only make their fellow believers look bad, but are denying themselves the opportunity for spiritual growth. Also, people who abuse their children in the name of God.

The Pope who claims to represent Christianity. The fact is he shows how Christians have become decadent over the centuries and more over how we lax our values to please any group who feel threaten by someone who takes a stand morally anymore.

im christian. so id have to say that the people who rep resent the worst of my religious group are those that preach "Jusus this, Jesus that. God wants you to do this." and then do pretty much the opposite of what they say. I think you call people like this hippocrites.

I can't answer that one - I know of plenty of famous Christians, Atheists, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, but no famous Agnostics.

*Sigh* - it's lonely being a skeptic.
