I know the whole drinking game that's 'played' here. I know that we tried to counter it with ***drinks coffee*** or tea etc...

Why not ***$$$*** in reference to add money to the collection plate every time a ridiculous question is asked of us?

In a dream I was dreaming that I was been mauled by evil spirits and taunted. In the dream I was in exactly the same place as I was in reality at the time (ie in my bed with the surroundings the same). I felt the evil spirits were coming through the window. I couldn't speak even though I wanted to scream in fear. Then in my dream I managed to shout out "in the name of Jesus of nazareth get out." Then the curtains to my window closed immediately by an unseen hand. I then woke up immediately dazed and confused as to whether it really happened or not.
Anyone got any experiences with this type of thing?

It seems to me that everyone on earth believes that God is a He, that IS a mainstream thinking. Why not both He/She?

Ad hominems and name calling only reveal the ignorance and desperation of those who use them. So many contributors here rely SOLELY upon these and they don't even realize how foolish they appear. It takes a real lack of confidence to resort to childish and nasty insults. Being rude and ugly only makes one less persuasive, and appear immature and uneducated. Frankly, I have seen most of the ad hominems and emotional name calling come from those who attack religious views. Why don't the emotional hurlers of insults feel secure enough to explain themselves in an intelligent and mature way? Can we not have meaningful dialog in the place of the emotional, juvenile content that fills R & S? Can anyone answer me without getting emotional or without blaming someone else for your rude ad hominems?

A few people in YA have implied that it wouldn't matter whether evidence supported or contradicted their religion--they would believe no matter what.

To me such an attitude suggests that the person really doesn't care about the truth, they care about their religion.

But I thought religion taught people to hunger for truth (about God, the universe, etc.). Am I missing something?

I know it is not cool with your PR but there IS record of these past racist doctrines. We are past arguing whether they do or not and the question is not meant to slander or insult. I just want to know how these two faiths now justify their past views.

Only serious answers from JWs or Mormons please. Thank you.

As I was working on outlining the new features in the latest version of iScrub, I came across a setting that made me laugh - ScrubApplicationCreator. If you enable this setting, the "creator information is removed ...."

Perhaps it's just afternoon loopiness, but I had one of those epiphanies - if "god" is our creator, then shouldn't he have left behind some "metadata" that we should be able to find?

Or is he using a really bad-*** metadata scrubber?

(My apologies to those who have no idea what metadata or metadata scrubbers are. Just ignore me!)

i mean, most people who have turned atheist, have done so after THOROUGHLY reading the bible...but every 2 hours or so i see some of the STUPIDEST questions asked by creationists about evolution...

NOT to generalize..some people are very educated indeed,BUT so far i have seen soooo many utterly nonsensical questions about evolution rather than intelligent ones..a few examples are

(1)are u telling me that we evolved from monkeys?

(2)if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys around?

(3)if God didn't create me why am i not a blob of skin and blood sitting around?(this was actually asked at R&S)

(4)if things actually did evolve,do trees wish they had wings?(this was also asked)

(5)sarcastic questions asking why we don't use the EVOLUTION theory to explain a car being designed (sheesh!as if cars REPRODUCE!)

and many many more....do u actually think u're making ANY sense by questions like this?

"Why can't we all just stop trying to change eachother's beliefs?" I see people asking this question all time and I think it's strange ... why WOULDN'T people try to change eachother's beliefs? I mean, we all think we know the TRUTH (some of us really do, but that's another story) so why wouldn't we want to show others the truth? This is our only world, this is the only life we get..everyone wants to feel like they are making the world a more enlightened place. In fact, I would be pretty disappointed if everyone just kept to themselves and never questioned eachother. What do you think?

One example might be: Why did your 'god' leave a plethora of compelling evidence for a 4 billion year old Earth, a 3 billion year old life history, evolution, and that all life is related, and yet you claim something very different?

There are so many..

These people make all sorts of whacky claims, and demand scientific "proof" and/or references, which are freely accessable, but while refusing to see any of the evidence, and if it is ever viewed [glanced over..] it's then simply claimed to be a lie. Without such proof themselves of course..

Granted, there simply is no getting through to them..

The usual creationist tactics and retorts are predictable and shallow, and easily countered. I would like to know what you consider to be the most crucial points against creationism/I.D., and also give them the opportunity to respond with some highly entertaining fictional dribble.

Logical and scientifically based responses directed at any whacky posts welcomed.
Thanks, and enjoy..

I thought that in order to understand the scriptures, you must be guided by Holy Spirit. In order to be guided by Holy Spirit you must ASK for it from God which means you must first BELIEVE in God. How do you make that first step to believe in God? You have to WANT to surrender. You have to admit you NEED a Savior. This is a VERY personal, emotional moment that is different for everyone and not everyone is in that place right now.

However there are some Christians in here asserting that faith in God comes through the bible. So they spend countless hours trying to prove their bible-based doctrine is absolute fact to non-believers, hoping it will inspire belief in God. I disagree. I think wanting to believe in God, independent of the bible happens first. Or Is God and the bible now interchangable? How many of you had to have a complete knowledge of the bible before you could believe in God?
Is just reading it going to inspire belief in God? Or is a MORE personal process involved?

I need some tough questions to ask a (very) smart Christian philosopher that would challenge him and cause him to think deeper. i.e. Is homosexuality an inborn trait or do they choose to be that way?

Any questions along that line of thought that have to deal with God and man (although not nesecarily homosexuals).

Thx

A statement I found on the Internet is this:
Jehovah's Witnesses are Instructed to lie to "unbelievers to
hide the truth".
What explanation do you have for that statement? you as Jehovah's Witnesses, explain this.
