A statement I found on the Internet is this:
Jehovah's Witnesses are Instructed to lie to "unbelievers to
hide the truth".
What explanation do you have for that statement? you as Jehovah's Witnesses, explain this.

danni_d21:
If you are a Jehovah's witnesses, you
ought to know this, about them. But you
act like you dont know anything about
it. If you are a Jehovah's Witness
then you would know about them.

The Watchtower was founded by
another person. There is no reason to
believe the Watchtower, because it
tells half truths. Not a reliable source
of information.

The Jehovah's Witnesses holds no
hope even for themselves. The way
they believe, will never get them to
heaven.

what I know the Jehovah's witnesses

Jehovah's Witnesses deny the deity
of Christ, the personhood of the Holy
Spirit, Jesus' physical resurrection
and salvation by grace through faith.

You can read scripture, and pray for the understanding of it.
You can also pray to Jesus, he is the one
who died for you, why not go to him in
prayer. Read 1 John 2:2 in the King
James Version. read matt. 11:28-30

Lie to unbelievers about what???

Your question makes no sense!

Why would we be trained to lie? What purpose would that serve?

Just because something is on the Internet that doesn't make it correct or even true.

*And I suppose celebrating pagan holidays and believing in pagan doctrines is in the Bible and approved of by God? Do your research fireball226 before opening your mouth!*

YES, I AM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. And what I know about "us" is that we are honest hearted people who put faith in the Bible as the final word, not the Watchtower. I'm getting awfully sick and tired of people lying and telling me what I believe. The Watchtower has NEVER CLAIMED TO BE INFALLIBLE! In fact, it has claimed the opposite.

The Bible is our authority, not the Watchtower.

Take your apostate propaganda elsewhere.

Boy, you must be really sweating blood over what will be shown on KNOCKING and that the JWs may be right.

As for lying, the Anti-JW crowd are adept at that. Being disfellowshipped since 1982, for cause, I have been approached many times by them to join their efforts. They say I don't need to say the real reason why I was disfellowshipped. They offered to script what I would say about their beliefs and policies. It didn't matter if it was a lie because no one, except witnesses, would question its authenticity.

Witnesses are not taught to lie. Lying is necessary for personal gain. They have little to gain personally from it. Those who survive Armageddon look forward to 1000 of work rebuilding this old planet back into a Paradise. Those resurrected to Heaven will be working, 24/7, without vacations, as overseers of those living on Earth. Further, the Bible does not indicate what happens to them after the 1000 years, and Christ returns the Throne to his father.

Christendom has the greatest to gain from lying about the JWs, as they gain financially, with life time leaders learning big dollars, owning big houses, and big cars. None of this you see in the Watchtower. Anyone can end up an elder or on the governing board.

As to the quality of the NWT please note:

New Testament:

While critical of some of its translation choices, BeDuhn called the New World Translation a “remarkably good” translation, “better by far” and “consistently better” than some of the others considered. Overall, concluded BeDuhn, the New World Translation “is one of the most accurate English translations of the New Testament currently available” and “the most accurate of the translations compared.”—Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament.

“Here at last is a comprehensive comparison of nine major translations of the Bible: King James Version, New American Standard Bible,

New International Version, New Revised Standard Version, New American Bible, Amplified Bible, Today's English Version (Good News Bible), Living Bible, and the New World Translation.

The book provides a general introduction to the history and methods of Bible translation, and gives background on each of these versions. Then it compares them on key passages of the New Testament to determine their accuracy and identify their bias. Passages looked at include:

John 1:1; John 8:58; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-20; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8; 2 Peter 1:1

Of the bibles tested, only the NWT translated John 1:1 correctly.

Ask your English teacher if it is correct to say "Snoopy is dog"

or

"The Dodge Charger is car."

The Greek you quoted is correct in Greek, but not in English.

footnote for the NAB: of John 1:1

"Was God: lack of a definite article with "God" in Greek signifies predication rather than identification."

Predication means quality or class

So just as Snoopy is a dog, and the Charger is a car.

Jesus is a god.

As to hiding the truth, Jehovah's Witnesses will be happy to come to your house and teach you the truth.

We spent over 1 billion hours doing just that last year.

We are not trained to lie.

"A statement I found on the Internet is this"

Consider the statements one can find on the web. I once read that the StarGate from the movie and TV show StarGate is real. Does that mean it is??

The Divinci Code was, at one point, considered by many to be based in reality. Does this mean it was??

Centuries ago, there were people who believed the Sun revolved around the Earth. Does this mean it does??

You will find a lot of things on the internet without anything to back up these type of statements. If you really are serious in finding an answer to your question, and I assume, finding the "truth", why not investigate the witnesses for yourself by visiting a local kingdom hall, along with visiting their official website. You will be pleasantly surprised as to the hope it truly holds out for you.

Where on the internet did you find this? Not everything on the internet is true, you know? It's not edited and put through a process of verification. For me to deal with this question fully, I'd have to know where you found it and investigate the source.

Now, the best I can do to answer your question is to say this:

I myself am not a member, but every Jehovah's Witness I know is a kind person who lives life in a healthy way and without harm to another person. That counts a great deal more to me than whatever you have found somewhere in cyberspace. That's just my personal experience with it. Do let us know if you find your source.

The premise of this so-called "question" is false. Jehovah's Witnesses do not tolerate lying. In fact, repeated lying may constitute a "serious sin" which could result in disfellowshipping.

Did you find that on the official site of Jehovah's Witnesses or on some hate site? Obviously, it was a rumor site.

We as God's people are not instructed to lie. That's the very last thing we are expected to do. God is a God of truth, and we strive to be also.
