"Why can't we all just stop trying to change eachother's beliefs?" I see people asking this question all time and I think it's strange ... why WOULDN'T people try to change eachother's beliefs? I mean, we all think we know the TRUTH (some of us really do, but that's another story) so why wouldn't we want to show others the truth? This is our only world, this is the only life we get..everyone wants to feel like they are making the world a more enlightened place. In fact, I would be pretty disappointed if everyone just kept to themselves and never questioned eachother. What do you think?

Totally agree. From a Christian perspective we believe that if you don't do certain things you face hell. We push to reveal the truths to others.

Good point

I disagree. Sharing of beliefs is one thing, but to think one has all the Truth to the point that they think they must go around changing other people is ridiculous really. Discussion is totally different from proselytizing. It's arrogant to think one knows Truth and then when asked to prove it in some way they get offended and act as if someone should just believe them because they said so. No, we shouldn't be trying to change people's beliefs... this hints at force of some kind being used... if not force then manipulation. And I'm sure no one wants to be manipulated.

I don't seek to change people's beliefs. My ego isn't big enough for me to run around telling everyone that I have The TRUTH and you MUST listen to me... you MUST change your beliefs because, well, I believe this and I happen to have it on good authority that I'm right - cause I said so. ;>

Enlightenment isn't about changing other people. It's about changing yourself. You can not give enlightenment to another person with the idea that you are only there to change their beliefs. That is not enlightenment... that's verbal religious war.

Wow, it really is so large to hearken to. i'm happy that you're elevating a lot of those questions, no longer purely interior your self yet with others round you. you're searching for for and that i imagine you've discovered yet you're turning out to be unsettled. there is not any longer something incorrect with questioning issues and doing all of your study. My question to you is that this: what's very on your heart? seem there first. From what you're saying about the differences you've made i can see that you're heading contained in the right course. Definately have self belief the bible, it teaches us to stay a good life and also you're doing a large number of issues in following that. That little voice you've may be the practise of God also and He will not in any respect steer you incorrect. what's also considered necessary is that it really is all right to observe others who've diverse faiths yet you adore them purely an similar, as your Grandfather says, with respect too. it is also achievable to be hostile to prepared faith yet nonetheless have a real heart for God. i do not bypass to church anymore as i found it develop into getting too enormous and commercial. that does no longer advise that i like God any a lot less and he's a large part of my life each day. My faith is immensly major to me. also, there are a decision of Christians contained in the international or maybe right here on YA which will continually be right here that you may want to help and assist you. You not in any respect ought to sense you should flow by this on my own. have self belief you emotions and your instincts and ask God for His course also. Spend some time to easily be quiet and listen for His voice. God bless

Questioning each other and trying to change one's beliefs are two different things. You can tell someone where you stand but don't force them to stand in the same spot as you. See the difference?

No one could possibly know the truth about god. Those who think they do are fools.

Believe what you like and allow others the same right.
