I thought that in order to understand the scriptures, you must be guided by Holy Spirit. In order to be guided by Holy Spirit you must ASK for it from God which means you must first BELIEVE in God. How do you make that first step to believe in God? You have to WANT to surrender. You have to admit you NEED a Savior. This is a VERY personal, emotional moment that is different for everyone and not everyone is in that place right now.
However there are some Christians in here asserting that faith in God comes through the bible. So they spend countless hours trying to prove their bible-based doctrine is absolute fact to non-believers, hoping it will inspire belief in God. I disagree. I think wanting to believe in God, independent of the bible happens first. Or Is God and the bible now interchangable? How many of you had to have a complete knowledge of the bible before you could believe in God?
Is just reading it going to inspire belief in God? Or is a MORE personal process involved?

Even if someone took away the Bible, the rocks would cry out and declare the truth. I would still believe in God even if I have no Bible. The Bible helps me to understand Him better and tells me of others who have gone through the same things that I might be going through. It's there for instruction and encouragement.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. I think it happens both ways. Many people I know have given their life to Christ by reading the Bible and just giving into the power of the Holy spirit and others give their life to God from other way. I hope this helps you. Good luck and God bless!

I believe that it is more of a personal thing. I have recently found my faith again but I've never really agreed with most of what the bible said. So I think one must believe and accept God before understanding the bible, never the less believe in it's teachings.

God has always been. The bible was written by men inspired by God.
We come to believe in God because He seeks us. Then our faith is strengthened by the scriptures.

God is God. he's what he's. he's not a "tension" yet fairly is the author who's a residing Being. he's a private God in that we are able to for my area be responsive to Him. which ability He has a character. he's perfect love and likewise perfect righteousness. Righteousness ability He needs to finally defend the righteous and punish evil. He could desire to at last completely break away evil yet His love motives him to attend and notice and want that each and every person repent. Repent basically ability to alter instructions. maximum individuals are working remote from God. some will exchange instructions and run in the direction of Him. yet what they comprehend is that God has continuously been with them and has sought them the full time they have been working.

Jessica,
I think that you are right. It is not possible for a person to become a Christian without first believing there is a GOD. Then studying the Bible and becoming aware of Jesus' Death, Burial, and Ressurection for our sake. Have a great week.
Thank you,

Gen 1: " In the beggining God created..." God is existent from eternity past to eternity future.
Bible is the "means" God uses to communicate with his children.

Bible is the word of God and as we know, his word represents him. Hardly does any one believe in God today without hearing his word. The word of God is life and those who hear it and believe in it are those we call the children of the living God. In essence the word of God cannot be separated from God.

One fact is certain that faith itself comes from God and is a free gift, when the Apostles taught by oral methods many became believers and this without any Bible as we know it.
