not because they have done something wrong, we punish them in hopes they will learn something and make better choices in the future. what is god trying to teach us by sending us to eternal hellfire and damnation in hell, there is no return. this doen't make sense to me. why would god punish us like that without the hopes of us learning something, or making better choices in the future. or is the idea of hell, just plain off the mark?

For example: (besides the obvious that Jews don't believe Jesus is the Messiah)

1. Christianity doesn't have the oral tradition. Judaism does.
2. In Judaism, angels do not have free will. Therefore, Satan is an agent of God who is testing mankind's faith. In Christianity, Satan in a fallen angel.
3. In Judaism, if the soul doesn't finish what it's meant to do on Earth, then it will, in a sense, be reincarnated. In Christianity, you only live once.
4. In Judaism, humankind is not born with original sin. In Christianity, humans are born with original sin.
5. In Judaism, after one dies, one has to atone for all his/her sins for a period not more than 12 months before either being reborn or going to the Spiritual realm.
6. In Judaism there isn't a Hell and Heaven. In Christianity, there is a Hell and a Heaven.

And I'm sure there are many more differences that I'm not aware of. Anyway, I thought Christianity had Judaic roots... so why is it so incredibly different?

Why is the concept that many Christians have of Heaven so materialistic? Is not materialism considered sinful? Pearly gates and golden streets are really not that appealing to me. I prefer to think of Heaven as eternal spiritual life with God. What do you think?

Before the USA got involved Iraq and Iran were fighting for 8 years in a war. Afganistan and Russia until it broke Russia and Afganistan. Millions of people have died and they always come up with some small thing that someone has done to them. The Sunni and Shiite do not believe alike? So?
Catholics and prostants don't believe alike.
Is the differences worth killing millions of innocent people more of your own than Americans.
One interesting quote: "more muslims are killed by other muslims than any other way" Is that really what your God would want? Seriously? Think about it?
What would it take for you people to have a few years without a war? I'm really interested in knowing.

Why do fundamentalist protestants believe that it is o.k. that their forefather's removed books from the Bible...but, have a hard time with Mormons or JW's who add to it?

Protestant/Fundamentalists...how do you know your people were prophets and led by God in their removal of these books?

according to the creationist theory, whenever a species evolves all other members of the species who don't evolve must die, hence the question, "if man evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys." so by that logic, should we reason that people with fair complexion skin should be dead because their skin did not darken to adapt to the sun the same way darker people's skin has?

How do I improve my relationship with God? I want to be closer to Him more then anything else right now in my life and I was wondering how people build that relationship. I read my Bible every night and my pray life is so-so.

Jesus says that if your hand offended you, then cut it off or if your eye offended you, then gouge it out. I know that He is speaking figuratively. However, I believe that Hell is a very terrible place. There are no words to describe its horrors. Everyone who is there would do anything to get out (though this is not possible according to scripture). Do you think that those who are in Hell right are wishing that they had literally cut off their hand or pluck out one of their eyes if these parts of the body had caused them to sin and land them in their current predicament. Do you think that these people, had they known what was in store for them would have literally cut off one of their hands or plucked out one of their eyes while they were still alive. I only want people who believe in Jesus to answer please.
