A few people in YA have implied that it wouldn't matter whether evidence supported or contradicted their religion--they would believe no matter what.

To me such an attitude suggests that the person really doesn't care about the truth, they care about their religion.

But I thought religion taught people to hunger for truth (about God, the universe, etc.). Am I missing something?

It would matter to me, if the evidence was completely indisputable, which it seems unlikely could happen. For example if there was evidence that Jesus Christ did not live as a man on Earth, I would question my faith. I do not think however that is something that could be found. Any evidence found now is always very suspect.
