In Proverbs 19:1 KJV "Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool." To me integrity is far more valuable than wealth, but most people don't act as if they believe this. Maybe they afraid of not getting everything they want and they will pay any price to increase their wealth. Cheating on taxes, stealing from employees, refusing to give etc. But when we know and love God, we realize that a lower standard of living, or even poverty, is a small price to pay for personal integrity. Why do you think that some are willing to sacrifice their own integrity for personal gain, even if it means hurting someone along the way? I just do not understand, nor do I ever want to.

During the funeral of john paul II, they brought a person up to the podium to peform what is called the litany of the saints. After about 5 minutes of this I got to thinking. You know what? This sort of reminds me of that old school bus song we used to sing when we took field trips back in grade school. Remember this one? 99 bottles of beer on the wall 99 bottles of beer, take one down pass it around 98 bottles of beer on the wall. Anyone know that one? Well to me thats what the litany sort of reminded of when I heard it. And Im not saying this to offend catholics, God have mercy on em. But I say it because I think its really relevant. Because it shows just how drunk they are with the blood of the saints. god is all knowing right.. according to the gospel gos is perfect..

so.. why did he not leave us some instructions..

one of the biggest problems in todays society is government becoming currupt. We in the US follow democracy.. but democracies have their faults and are known to implode.. facist leaders are def. not the answer.. communnism did not work out too well.. dictators tend be currupt..

why did god not leave us with a chapter in the bible that deals with what kind of government to set up. imagine if god being all knowing.. the god that made the sun meaning created nuclear reactions.. the god who created everything we know.. why didnt he set us up with a type of government that is perfect.. he could of right.. he can do anything.. so why not?

...but it also says people shouldn't eat shellfish or pork. Or charge interest on loans. Oh yeah, and should kill witches. Funny thing, when one points out the hypocrisy of people ignoring those laws, many are quick to point out that they are in the Old Testament and are thus superceded by the NT. The problem is all the stuff proscribing against gays is in the OT as well. Hmmm. Pick any cherries lately?

In the book of Psalms 105:15, in the Bible, it states, "Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm". What "exactly" does this mean? When God said "touch not", did he literally mean to not negatively talk about or slander His anointed, or did He mean to not cause "physical" harm to His anointed and prophets?

The archeological and historical records verify the existence of Rome, Greece, Egypt, and other civilizations that are used as settings in the bible, but these records make no mention of Jesus/Yeshua/Joshua. Paul of Tarsus actually left letters, but the ones that have been verified as authentic make no reference to Yeshua/Joshua/Jesus as a real person, to include the crucifixion by the Romans or the resurrection and ascension to heaven. History seems to point to Jesus being a myth used allegoricaly by people who wanted to separate from Judaeism. So who's lying, christians or historians and archeologists?

Does anyone here believe that the universe is not billions of years old because of what the bible says?

Do you therefore believe that the earth is in the center of the universe and the sun and planets revolve around it because the bible says that to?

I am a Christian, Steven Hawking fan, and doing a Galileo project. Thats why I'm asking.

Particularly in the Biblical world - from ancient times. I know that Job says God's ways are beyond our understanding, and that the suffering comes to Job because God has allowed Satan to test him.

But other than this answer of Job, what other answers have the people traditionally given to the problem of why do bad things happen to good people?

I'm a good kid; i don't do drugs, i've done nothing wrong. But my mum is forcing me to go to church, and i've told her i don't believe in a God---not at my age, at least. (I'm fifteen)
Does she have the right to do this?
She says it will help with my severe depression...but church is part of the reason. I've had some very bad experiences at churches.

Considering that the Hindu religion pre-dates Judaism by about 1000 years, is it not far more likely to be correct that Judaism. And since Judaism is the foundation of Christianity and Islam it would them follow that the Hindu religion is far more likely to be correct than Christianity or Islam.

So, will you be ignoring this fact? Or will you become Hindu?

Yes, Jesus did die on one. But I thought it was why he did that was important.
