Statistics would help a lot

When something bad happens some people who are religeous perhaps dont get as depressed about it because they feel 'god knows what hes doing' or 'it was meant to be' plus by following the guidelines or rules set out by their religion some are very happy as they feel they are doing the good thing and will be rewarded in the afterlife
But then again, they can also get extremely sad if something happens and their religion does not have a reason for it.
I think religious people that have chosen to be religious are happy because its a path they've chosen and they have something to guide them and to believe in. But people who are forced into religion or have strict rules can be much more sad

i will look for statistics but for the time being, i have learned from somewhere that people who have a strong belief in a super natural being are very happy, and people who are strong in their beliefs that there is no god are happy (only a little less happy than the believers) but most of the population falls in the big deep valley of the middle where the people who mix and match beliefs lay

I know a lot of religious folks that are unhappy even though they believe in God, and a lot of happy Atheists also. I don't think happiness has to do with religion at all, but the state of mind that we choose to have. We can look at life negatively or positively, and we can also choose to be happy or unhappy. It's all a matter of choice.

Don't know. All I can say is I am happier now than before with the same faith now and before. What makes me happier living with the same faith now is the use of logic of seeking God. I think I did it. My belief will never be left alone, this time, in its journey to the spiritual path.

I know that having Jesus as the center of my decisions and life, that even in times of sorrow, I have Joy.... Joy is something deeper than 'happiness' for sorrow and happiness can't be at the same time... where as joy in the Spirit and sorrow can...

statistics that i have to back it up.... before I had Christ, i struggled with depression, eating disorder and low self esteem.... after I accepted Jesus, He set me free from all of that.... and there is true Joy every day...

Naaa !!

I would say about even.
The only difference is, people who don't follow a religious regime usually express thier personalities better.

Why ?? Well they don't fear going to 'hell' if they breath the wrong way.

Therefore appear more outgoing and happier.

I would say no. I have known many happy Atheists, and many suicidal, depressed Christians. Religion has nothing to do with happiness.

Depends on the person and what they believe in.

LOGIC ALERT!!!

"Religion-wise" hardly applies to atheists, no? Your scenario is *invalid* - plus there is no connection between belief / joy.
