a cross in and of itself is not holy
and it is not to be worshipped or bowed down before.... as graven images are
it represents what Jesus endured for each of us... and is a reminder of how we have been set free... but nothing more.

Sometimes people worship Gods symbolically. It makes them easy to think and worship God. Jesus was a saint. As his holy physique was crucified in cross, people thinks that the cross too attained the holy and saintly status. Actually cross did not punish him, it is mere wood. Only his enemies are responsible for the crime. Christians think Jesus whenever they see cross. It affected their minds so much. But there is one trouble in this which they did not understand till this date. Worshipping Jesus in that posture is keeping a holy good thing in an immovable state. It is like asking some help by generous man’s hands after tying his hands tightly. We see suffering God in that cross. A real pious person doesn’t have heart to ask anything from the God in that state. Whenever I see this, I feel that these human beings have not freed God from cross even now. I also feel that this is also a reason for the existing troubles in the world. I do not know when these people will start to think correctly for the sake of God. People must have clear knowledge of spirituality. Many read about spirits and sorcery through books and magazines but fail to think they have something to do with their lives. Keeping the Jesus in that state is also sorcery. It is witchcraft. They must realize and change soon.

The Cross is above all else the sign of God`s love for us,Christ embraced His cross with complete love and obedience, it is also the sign that Christians must embrace too and that is the suffering of this life in union with Christ.
This mystery of suffering that we do not fully comprehend yet must accept as the way of the true follower of Christ.
The cross of suffering cannot be avoided, we cannot go around it or over it but only through it,no one wants to suffer so it is a stumbling block to many, and few want to take it up and follow in Christs footsteps.
Christ brought a new meaning to so many everyday things like water and bread and sanctified them and so too the cross of suffering too was sanctified, and this is why it is revered by Catholics and some other denominations.
Acceptance is the key to understanding the cross.

The cross is a Roman symbol as a punishment and humiliation against a citizen or foreigner who have done a great crime against the Roman Empire. They normally do that to their occupied territory to frighten all those who intend to undermine the power of Ceazar, their Emperor.
So, Christ was crucified by the Romans for that reason. They all thought he will lead a rebellion against rome like how Moses led a rebellion against Egypt. It is not true that the Jews killed Jesus, Romans took advantage of Jesus' mistake when he caused the Jew to go aganist him in some of their old Jewish traditions being changed.
It was the Romans who made the cross holy when Rome decided to make Christianity as their official religion. Rome is really famous for idolatrous practices. The Jews will never make the cross holy because for them it stays as a symbol of humiliation.

Christians high value the cross because it means that our sins were borne by Jesus on the cross. It's very important that we recognize that Jesus was nailed to the cross, because prophecy in Psalm 22 indicates that God's anointed will die by having his hands and feet pierced and his bones will go out of joint. This happens when a person hangs on a cross.
It is a thing of shame for someone to die on a cross, and God chose that form of death on purpose. Jesus took on all the shame of our sins when He was on the cross. Then He died. But the third day He rose from the dead -- because only people who sinned must stay dead. Jesus never sinned, so He rose from the dead.
The empty cross reminds us that Jesus rose again. It is a symbol of God's love. You want to know how much He loved you? See the hands stretched out on the cross? He loved you that much.

The idea of the cross came over three hundred years after his death... Wood was scarce in that neck of the woods and only one long peice of wood, called a stake, was used to hang those criminals that they kept murdering in that manner and this is obvious when you read the books of historians of the day such as Joshephus and bother to dig for the truth of the days... you'll find out then the shepherds and the sheep are never out and never were out in the month of December and that Christ was born sometime in October but these along with a myriad of other untruths and half-truth stem from the pagan ideas of the day, that one and this one, who really love their ideas of what the original idea of these things were and still are to them... Don't you ever ask yourself why a pagan would even wear a cross??? It always was a symbol of fertility representing the goddess of fertility, much the same as the "easter bunny" and "eggs" representing "fertility". If you ask the Jews when they celebrate the Passover which is the exact day that Christ gave his life for us, they would give you the exact date every year and it wouldn't always fall on a Friday or a Sunday!!! It comes on a different day every year on Nissan 14. Peace and may the true God bless your efforts in finding the rest of the truths of all things... It's a fun thing to do!!! I assure you!!!

You make an interesting observation, not new just interesting.
First, Christians do not consider the cross holy. They revere it as the method Christ achieved atonement for all those that believe. The wearing of it or having it in a Church should be a mark of the believer or a focal point for people to reflect on Christ's suffering and willing obedience to God the Father.
Second, it should be a reminder that God did not spare his own son pain and suffering so do not be surprised when pain and suffering come to you. We are to crucify ourselves daily what we want is second to the calling we have been entrusted with.
Now, remember this too. Many people wear things that remind them of their heritage or something they are affiliated with. Rebel Flags, Red Gree Yellow for Africa, donkeys, elephants, hearts, angels, motorcycles, eagles, skulls the list is long and endless. This should not be a hard concept for you to grasp.

Exactly...the cross isn't holy...it's not how he died that's important it's that he died that seals the deal. A cross can't save you or protect you. It's only an image to remind you of what Jesus did for you.

Some Christians worship the cross, which is like worshipping idols.
shouldn't they curse the cross? their God was tortured and died on one, but according to them that's what cleaned their sins, so it's a matter of opinion.
