I've heard people say some have bad lives because of the sin in their life. But then if "good people" are having a hard time, its the devil testing their faith. So, does that mean etiher way we're going to have horrible lives? It really just confuses the hell out of me.

From my perspective I will always think I'm alive as long as I can think. From your perspective I will die, but I will think I'm immortal. The question is will I have a conscious experience of the far future? If a many-worlds conception of quantum theory is true I think I might. In a universe where time is an illusion I think I might.

Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Num 23:19 God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: when He hath said, will He not do it? or when He hath spoken, will He not make it good?

In the context of treating the Bible as human words of their time, the extraordinarily male-oriented bias in it is unsurprising. I mean not only the shoddy treatment towards women, but the whole thing is essentially addressed directly to men. (Don't try and tell me it's "mankind" unless you want to try explaining why it says things like "ye shall find ye a wife.")

So, if this really were what God said, wouldn't it be addressed to all people - or was the feminist movement purely a result of "free will" and not predetermined?

Plenty of rope there, plenty of petty points to pick me up on, knock yourselves out.

Isn't inner peace what the ultimate goal is? How can someone be condemned for finding a path that is right for them, and doesn't harm others?

since there was no mention of christ when the 10 commandments came out, only after does anything about Him appear, wouldnt it be safe to say that perhaps we are worshipping Jesus as a false idol, therefore ever christian would be an idol worshipper. im not saying thats right,im saying for the sake of our souls, we should ponder this.

According to this article:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20070424/sc_livescience/studyreligionisgoodforkids
Religion helps provide positive reinforcement and structure needed in the lives of kids. Studies find that kids who grow up in a religious home are often better behaved.

Pretty interesting, huh?

I have witnessed many people in my own family become so consumed with hatred for people and situations in their life that it ruined them. These people died miserable, lonely deaths and suffered terribly. I was like that too, for a very long time. I finally made some changes in my life, like moving away from those people, giving my time and money to causes that meant something to me and learning about God. I feel I am a better person for that, I am happier and I live a good life.

I've heard many times that all the evil in the world is because of Satan and the Fall. But the world is, by and large, a harsh place. Is everything someone would consider bad, or even non-ideal, the work of Satan?

Do you think the devil suddenly made animals carnivorous,

allowed fire to be able to spread uncontrollably,

opened the earth to blows from asteroids,

introduced defective genes that caused mental retardation,

removed resistance to harsh radiation,

tweaked bacteria so it can adapt and resist antibiotics,
...and this is all just the tip of the iceberg.

Or was it just sin in general, and not specifically the devil? If so, how did "sin" get this magic ability? Wouldn't it have to have been god that gave sin this power, since, supposedly, nothing exists that god didn't create?

Or did god create a harsh world, and then just remove his protection as a punishment for Adam and Eve sinning? Doesn't that make him both capricious, and outright unfair?
