Isn't inner peace what the ultimate goal is? How can someone be condemned for finding a path that is right for them, and doesn't harm others?

Sorry, Deke, it appears the ultimate goal is worshiping their version of a deity. Remember, you're not important in your life, only their particular version of a deity is important.

On the note about being selfish, I'd like to note that happy people with inner peace have a tendency to care for and about others; because their needs are met, they are able to give. Freely and wholly.

"Christians : If not believing in God (or in a different god) brings someone peace, why isn't that good enough?"
It is good enough for that person. We have a few factors as to why this is bad, and why it can be what's expected.

1) It can be bad as the Bible says, Satan decieved the whole world. The person could really want to come to God, but didn't because of a deception from him.

2) The person had the reason for believing misconstrued, as in this case, what you said about 'inner peace'. The peace that is gained by understanding what Christianity really is about is gained between sinning man and God. Without Jesus Christ, there is no peace with God. A Christian therefore might not at all be at peace with other things until he finds his trust in God so complete that he 'accepts' whatever befalls him, and trusts God with all things in his life.

That is a condition reached by a Chrisitan IF he trusts God properly, but it is only indirectly the goal. The trust in God issue is really the goal, the inner peace we get from trusting God is a product of that trust.

"Isn't inner peace what the ultimate goal is?"
As I have said, it is merely the product of trusting God. Trusting God completely is the goal. Peace comes with that trust.

"How can someone be condemned for finding a path that is right for them, and doesn't harm others?"
I, for example, am not the focus. It's not about what's right for me. It's about me complying to the ways of God. Now that might seem to many Christians to mean that I had to be sinless, but that would be an erroneous veiw, according to the Bible ' . . . everyone his own way, none seeks after God, no not one' would be the view God takes.

You see, without God there wouldn't be one of us who would seek him out, His Spirit guides certain ones of us to Him. He decides who, and those that don't aren't even caring about it. Those that do care about it are put on a path to discover God. He gives the proof necessary to believe in Him because He operates on all levels, mind, body, spirit, etc. Otherwise, there is no proof of Him until He provides it.

There can be many more issues to go into. But I think that you asked a good question. So thanks.

God charged man with spreading his word to non-believers. This is one reason that Christians are intent on convincing others that Christianity is the only way. I don't know what other people's idea of their god is, so I can't imagine how one could be at peace if they aren't Christian. I know this may not be the exact answer you are looking for, but Christians believe that you can only be saved and enter Heaven if you accept Christianity, so that my be your answer as to why they think you are condemned.

Peace may be your goal, and its a nice goal. But its also a selfish goal. And that's fine, too, if you believe that you are the center of your universe. Most people live this way.

We don't believe we're the center of the universe. We believe that God is, however. So our lives are lived in worship of Him.

For us, we have peace in knowing that we are secure in God, but the peace is not the point of it all (and we won't have peace at every moment...or even most moments). The point is worshipping God.

We know the truth, and for us to know the truth and not tell you the truth would be unloving. Do you think we want you to perish? We are not about to tell you that everything is hunky dorey between you and God when its not. Would you tell your child that its ok to pet that rattle snake, even though you yourself may never have been bit by it? Is this what you want to hear...Yeah, go ahead , beleive every false idea and every false notion, and go in peace with the fangs of satan in your veins. No, out of love we tell you the truth even if it hurts becsause sometimes youve got to open up a snakebite wider to get the venom out.

Is loving one’s fellowman what really counts?

There is no doubt about it, such love is important. (Rom. 13:8-10) But being a Christian involves more than simply being kind to our neighbor. Jesus said that his true disciples would be outstandingly identified by their love for one another, for fellow believers. (John 13:35) The importance of that is emphasized repeatedly in the Bible. (Gal. 6:10; 1 Pet. 4:8; 1 John 3:14, 16, 17) However, Jesus showed that even more important is our love for God himself, which is shown by our obedience to his commandments. (Matt. 22:35-38; 1 John 5:3) To demonstrate such love, we need to study and apply God’s Word and assemble with fellow servants of God for worship.

They can't be very peaceful if they're here stirring up people's hormones.

If you're that much at peace you should be somewhere else doing something else not here making infuriating Sky Daddy posts.

Only someone with insecurities makes those kinds of posts. They want to be noticed, they want to feel important.

You speak of limited worldly things....Christians speak of infinite Godly things....of an eternity of the peace you want......which is better....a few year's of peace on earth...or an eternity of peace with God?
