since there was no mention of christ when the 10 commandments came out, only after does anything about Him appear, wouldnt it be safe to say that perhaps we are worshipping Jesus as a false idol, therefore ever christian would be an idol worshipper. im not saying thats right,im saying for the sake of our souls, we should ponder this.

Remember the time when you were child and how pure and innocent you felt? How do you feel now? The child has a pure soul that is still not poisoned with materialism and human complexes and stupid pride that makes people do horrible things and never say sorry. Be innocent like a child.
You know very well what is wrong and what is not, you feel it in your heart. The more you ignore this feeling inside more you are killing this force of soul. Some people made so much harm to their soul that they don’t even feel anymore what is right and what is wrong. All 10 commandments are contained in two ‘Don’t do to others what you don’t want others to do to you’ ‘Love the God with all your strength’ and it is the point of Christianity, it is as simple as that. All the rest that came out in the past 2000 years comes from humans. We are all equal and nobody is better from others. Such world would be perfect if there were no hypocrites who think they are smarter than others or less sinful. All human happiness lasts short only love lasts forever. Buy a good car and you’ll be happy with it for a year or maybe two. If you have friend you really love, you’ll never get enough of him. Many and I mean many chose the car over a friend (metaphorically speaking).

There was no mention of Jesus in the 10 commandments because He had not come to earth as of yet. The 10 Commandments were transcribed on stone about 3000 years before His birth, (by Moses).

In the very first commandment, God states that we must place no other god before Him. Jesus was sent to earth, through the Immaculate Conception, to save us from sin and forgive us for our past sins by way of God's grace.

So, Jesus was sent here to bring God's word and work to us and we are to honor, abide and fear Jesus, as God. He is not a false idol, for He was sent as a real man to walk amongst us, but He was God's son which gave HIm the power to rise from the dead. Without this miracle, many would not have believed His power and grace...it is still confusing why anyone is still unsure about Him!?!

The 10 commandments are part of the Mosaic Law code which consisted of 100s and 100s of laws. This law was given to the Israelites as Gods chosen nation of the time. The purpose of this Law was to show the people how far from perfection and how sinful they were, since it was impossible for any person to keep the Law completely. It was meant to impress upon them the need for the Messiah - for a redeemer to permanently remove the effects of Adamic (original) sin.

Jesus was that Messiah. He fulfilled the Law by keeping it perfectly. THUS - when he was nailed to the torture stake, the Law was symbolically nailed up there right with him. It was replaced by a new covenant. A law based on Love. Likewise, at this time the new Christian congregation replaced the nation of Israel as God's people since the Israelites as a whole refused to accept the Christ.

So - basically - No. Jesus is not a false idol.

God's child - if I said to you "let us make some cookies" does that mean you and I are parts of a triune being? Not hardly. God was speaking to his Son.

Jesus summed up the 10 commandments with just 2 commandments. Love thy God and love thy neighbor. These 2 cover the whole 10 commandments. Christian's do not have to follow old testament laws, but if Jesus restated them, then we need to follow them. Jesus restated the 10 commandments with 2 commandments.

The Messiah or Jesus Christ was prophesied in the Old Testament. The Bible is a book of salvation history which begins with the fall of man (Adam and Eve) and ends with the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Peace and every blessing!

Just because he's exactly the kind of Mediterranean Pagan Mystery Religion figure that the entire Old Testament condemns and commands the Israelites to avoid is no reason to point that out.

It's just mean.

A valid point. I don't worship crosses or little fishes on car trunks. I don't own pictures of brown haired, blue eyed robed guys with light rays shooting out from behind them.
