Most of the time, when bad things happen people have set the situation up for this bad event to happen. But of course, this isn't the rule. Many times it is a complete disaster out of the blue and couldn't have been avoided. This way of looking at life, 'we are being tested but they are sinful' is decidedly Christian and is merely self serving. It is a dualistic life view, good-bad, either-or...life is not that simple.
How about looking at bad events as a chance to learn more about yourself and not judging others if they have a hard time in life?

Hi,
Usually the bad lives that you hear people talking about regarding sin involves the bad choices that folks make. These can involve drugs, crime, etc. God gives us free will and the choices we make in the company we keep or the actions we perform have a direct relation on our lives.
I don't know if it's always the devil testing our faith when we have hard times. As Christians sometimes the hard times we have are directly related to choices we made at other times in our lives. Sometimes there are tests and I think part of that is because do you notice that it's when we are content that we grow complacent? Many times it is when we are in trouble that we turn to God. I have learned to lean on God in good times and bad. In some cases I think God uses us as examples to others of how to handle the bad times. There can be so many reasons and just as each person is unique thier issues are also unique. I think if you examine your life and pray you will find why the issues arise in your own life. Hope this helps, God Bless

I think some Christians would like to believe that bad things only happen to bad people, therefore every bad thing that happens to you is because you are a bad person. When something bad happens to a "good christian" they are stuck for an explanation so they blame the devil.
The truth: bad things happen to EVERYBODY. We live in a world that is literally groaning under the weight of its rebellion against God. The consequences of the rebellion of man are clear. Human suffering. But we have a promise from God. If you are a Christain, called according to his purposes, he will make sure that even the bad things in life will bring some blessings for you. He will give you hope and he will care for you during the worst of it all. Christians have the promise of eternity. This world is a stopover. It is like grass, dust in the wind. It will fade away and be forgotten, along with all the suffering that we experienced while we were here.

We can't always know why troubles come our way. That is why we need to cast all our cares on the Lord.
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. That we could have life and have life more abundantly.
The truth is that when we are born of God & follow after Christ, we will be persecuted by antichrists. It is a promise in Gods Word. But the persecution teaches us to grow in faith & trust God through all trials.
I have much authority over the devil. If I accidentaly open the door to a devil, I will sense the devil. It is discomforting. So I, submit to God. Pray to God. Give God my attention. Pray in spirit and truth. Ask God if I opened a door by disobeying God in some way. Ask God if someone needs prayer. Ask God whatever I think the reason might be. I drill God on it. This seems to please God. Also, then I take authority over the devil by binding it in weights & throw it to the bottom of the sea. Also, I pray for the bottom of the sea creatures. But usually before I get to that the point the devil has ran off afraid. It is written to submit to God, resist the devil & the devil flees. Also resist the devil (don't do the temptation) submit to God and the devil flees. Whatever, when the devil tempts, resist the temptation. Submit to God (think on Gods Word, pray to God, give attention to Gods Blessed Assurance). Satan is scared & runs away. Satan is scared of even the youngest person of faith. Because God listens to his children.
The more we learn who we are in Christ, the more victory over the devils schemes we have.
But the most important is to submit to God. It is good to pray in spirit & truth first thing in the morning. Read some scripture of Gods Word. Follow after the spirit throughout the day. Even as we drive, God knows what is around the corner or up the road a mile+, & if the Lord directs you to go a different way, go a different way. If the Lord directs to to stop & help someone in the ditch, help that person. In the news not too long ago, someone had a dream of a baby stuck & not be able to get out. On the way to work that day, person had a feeling to stop at a bridge (after passing the bridge first & returning because he thought he should check it out) then saw a car stuck in the water and a person was inside who couldn't get out. He wasn't exactly a baby, but was probably a baby Christian praying to God for help. Mayby he just got saved in the ditch, so was a brand new baby Christian. I don't know, but that is my speculation.

Depends on what faith you have. According to my faith, the bad times do not necessarily have to be because of sins. Even the most honourable and decent human being can have a hard time, this is because this world is not the place where you are supposed to get the results of your actions, but it is in the afterlife where you will get what you deserve. God tests our faith in various ways, it may be through putting us in difficult circumstances or it may also be through giving us more than we deserve till we forget to thank God for all that we have.

Jesus promises us that we can live life more abundantly (John 10:10). But to enjoy this the old things must pass away and all things become new (2Cor 5:17). It is the old things (including the flesh) in a Christian that gives him problems and God allows the problem to surface so that a Christian may identify the old thing and put it away to solve the problem. As there are usually many old things a Christian has to put away there is a process of putting away the old things so that we can enjoy more and more of the abundant life. We can pray for the strength and grace of God to help us put off the old things and have all things new to live a victorious life in Christ Jjesus.

According to the Bible - there is no such thing as a 'good person' - we'll never be perfect.
Having said that, perhaps you shouldn't worry about that. Life has good times & hard times. We all have to face death & seperation one day - there is no escaping that. The only thing we can do, is live our lives and make the best of the good times, learn from the bad, that is all...

Sin has a domino effect and is never just a personally destructive event, look at all the suffering that manical tyrants have caused by the sin of pride and lust for power.
Scripture tells us that we are one family and what happens is that sin wether it is single and personal or a national sin really does effect all of us, so this is why the good suffer with the bad.

I think whatever bad or gud u do in ur life u get paid for that, in ur lifetime in some or the other way.
Anyhow many things int this world r weird as human being can never be stasfied for what they have got in their life, eveyody would think, im paying for my sins or something but i don't think that's true, if u go deeper into life of other's u would come to know that many ppl r struggling in their lifes, unhappy 'n' moreover some even can't eat food for days 'n' days.
it's all life .

Good question. Some bad people have great lives too, though. I don't claim to understand how all that works.....but beleiving that God is there to help them through tough times gives christians strength and encouragement, so it's not really a bad thing to believe.
