I'm sorry, I truly like most Americans I know, and I also truly like most of the Christians I know. But this is getting annoying in a Religious section on a World Wide Web. (Emphasis on Religious and World)

In a religious section it's nice to state which god you are asking about. It shows respect to believers in other gods than yours.

On a world wide web it's kinda normal to state which country you talk about when you ask a question that involves words like "my country". I truly can't guess where you live, when you're online.

In 99% of the cases it appears to be the Christian god, and the country named USA.

What is that? Arrogance? Simply not thinking about others? How does that work? Please explain it to me.

The world is a big place, with many countries, really. Religion is a huge subject, with 10,000 gods, really.

Scientists finally discovered how to create man out of dirt! So they called a meeting with GOD.

"GOD," they said, "we have discovered how to make man out of dirt! We can now do anything you can! We don't need you or your creations anymore!"

"OH REALLY?" asked GOD.

"Yes!" proclaimed the scientists.

"SHOW ME." said GOD.

"Well.." began the scientists, "we take the dirt and..."

"UH, UH, UH...." GOD said, "MAKE YOUR OWN DIRT!"

Did you like it? I thought it was cute! :)

When you find hypocrites in your workplace do you quit your job or stop coming to work just because they are there?

Why is that excuse always used when one does not want to go to Church?

Today the American Humanist Association called upon U.S. citizens to fly the American flag at half staff until the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan end as a tribute to "honor our fallen troops and remind us of the human cost of war."

http://www.americanhumanist.org/press/halfmast.php

Will you fly your flag at half staff? What do you think of the gesture? What would be a better action?

God sent His Son
They called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive.
He lived and died, to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.

And because He lives - I can face tomorrow
Because He lives - all fear is gone
Because I know who holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

How sweet to hold a new born baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives
But greater still the calm assurance
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

And then one day I'll cross the river
I'll fight life's final war with pain
And then as death gives way to victory
I'll see the lights of glory - and I'll know He lives

BECAUSE JESUS MY SAVIOUR LIVES
I CAN FACE TOMORROW.

CAN YOU?

Why isn't it all literal then? I get the idea that its from different authors but wouldn't they write it the way God told them and not put a spin on it? BTW, if all the examples are metaphors, then where is evidence.

Once again, not an attack just a fair question.

Pope Vigilius supported the teachings of the church of reincaration, it had been in effect for over 500 hundred years!
Emperor Justinian of Rome ordered the Pope arrested, because he refused to sign a Papal degree stating that anyone who believes that souls come from God and return to God will be punished by death. A group of Cardinals convinced the Emperor that if every soul had once pre-existed with God, then Christ wasn`t anything special to have come from God. They convinced the Emperor that if the people thought they were the children of God they might think they no longer need an Emperor or pay taxes or obey the Holy Church!
They said only Christ had come from God,and God made new souls at conception and only the holy church could bring these souls to God. With out the Empire or holy church all people would be doomed to hell! So your belief in resurrection comes straight from Emperor Justiaian and has nothing to do with Jesus teachings.check out my web site TheAsender

I'm somewhere in the middle, but let's say you go through life and preach and do good deeds etc only to find, perhaps, there is no God or afterlife....if you were somehow given "another chance" would you do it anyhow? Why?

So... I've been told that "the sting of death is sin". Now correct me if I've misinterpreted, but this must mean that the presence of sin in the world is what leads to death, which further indicates that the presence of sin directly inflicts the cause of death.

Am I right? Does the presence of sin in the world cause malignant tumors to grow?
