it isn't the appropriate date to have fun: we don't have fun the commencing up of the Vietnam conflict, the onset of Horse Flu, or the Influenza Epidemic. Why can we have fun Australia on the anniversary of an invasion* that has marginalised and dispossessed the oldest subculture in the worldwide? (*Definition: Invasion: front as though to take possession or overrun). I descend from those invading "pioneers". Many got here right here as victims of oppression: cultural, financial, famine, religious and ethic. yet they found out no longer something from the journey and proceeded to do a similar to classic Australians over the previous six generations. They cleared too lots land, they drove organic worldwide to extinction, and that they gridded out a proud subculture with their fences and inventory. i'm SORRY that my kin benefited and others proceed to go through and that i additionally take possibilities to act on my apology. i'm prepared to assist our greater moderen Australian arrivals study approximately this and renowned the folk of the country in addition they income from inhabiting. Being a solid mate is what Australia is approximately - no longer celebrating an experience of oppression. (a number of the comments above are indicative of the continued psychological difficulty some human beings have approximately this. So unhappy.) permit's %. yet another date please, and not at this sort of warm time of 12 months and so forth the threshold of Christmas and New 12 months holidays. Why no longer replace the "Queen's Birthday"? this is celebrated on diverse dates in diverse States - and it isn't the birthday of the present English monarch besides. basically an excuse for a time without work and a few pyromania. Who cares that it became Queen Victoria's birthday? Make it Australia Day and allow off those fireworks interior the low bushfire threat season rather of frying on the sea coast lower back.

There's far more than those of us who drive foreign cars "selling this country away", so stop the madness. I didn't see any American companies offering a vehicle for the price, quality and eco-friendly standards I believe in, so I bought a Yaris. It's the cause and effect of piddle-poor standards in U.S. manufacturing you're reaping, along with the government's stupid denial of what's really going on with oil and the environment. I'm sorry if that upsets you but I do care more about humanity first, then the condition of the land you call "America" which either sustains us through conscious eco-friendly choices or doesn't. Your choice.

Toyota makes great cars, so what do you expect? American car makers, and all other American companies, look for the cheap way to do things and make a big buck. the make their cars out of the cheapest material, the cheapest way, than charge us big bucks for it. at least with Toyota you know your car will last. even if you dog-ed your Toyota out it will still be faithful to you and crank up. Toyota is my number 1 choice, but i do like GMC, they are pretty good. the rest might as well give up.

You made a good point ...Remember when " Made in Japan " was a second rate product ? They learned form their mistakes ...Can't the U S auto makers wake up and do the same ? How much do they need to make ? My arm and leg isn't enough to buy a new car now.

I think most Toyotas are actually made in the US. Many "domestic" cars are manufactured overseas. Consumer Reports had an article on it a month or so ago. Check your facts.

If I buy a toyota here in Europe, I'm selling your country away? Why is that?

And more importantly: do you mind if that is not my first concern when I buy a car?

How is this question remotely spiritual or religious? Perhaps it would do better in the politics category where it belongs.

Oh and I owned a Toyota - made in Kentucky by American workers ... so how is that selling my country away?
