Well, if the Christians you know believe in the Bible, then they would believe that we are all created equal and are not to judge their peers. Apparently the ones you have met are not a good representation of this, or you simply misconstrued something they said or did.

It is ignorant to say that ALL Christians think that way, but a majority do think that they are better then the world because they are forgiven, i know i used to be a christian and i was surrounded by a vast number of people who thought that way. That is why i am not a Christian anymore. But i knew Christians who were real and practiced their religion with love not anger and hatred. To answer your question, they probably think they are better Americans because the nation was built on Christianity. This nation was a christian nation at first. But, it also instilled in the constitution the right to believe anything one wants to believe.

Christianity has become a status symbol not a religious system. They are taught that they must hunt down the lost. In doing so they developed a mentality that Christians are the only true faith and all that are not christian are worthless. Back during the conversion of the British isles, the church converted the wealthy city living folk.and then started a class warfare against the peasants. In old English a peasant was called 'PAGAN' . This is when the terminology 'PAGAN' was used to describe any faith other than Christianity. Class warfare began then.

Sadly, most Christians think that to be around people who are "sinners" is a bad thing. The thing is, Jesus did it all the time. I'm a Christian, and I act like the rest of you are more important than me. In fact, I know you are.

I doubt that all act this way. Perhaps you are very unlucky and have never met a good Christian. But grouping everyone into a category like this because of your experience with Christianity is anti-American.
If a black guy hits me in the nose and I asked, why are black people so mean? Then, I am also guilty of being anti-American.

I'm Christian and I believe God created us all and that we are all important. He thinks so why would I disagree with that? Maybe if you elaborated I would get your meaning. Maybe what you mean is why do some of us Christians act as if your opinions and concerns aren't important. If that is what you mean I have no idea. I suspect that they feel like if they listened with open heart and mind that they would fall away from God. In other words I think they are afraid.

It might just be a persons personality, those that have a strong personality will tell you their opinion whether they are christian or not. I know plenty of people who are not christian that think they are better than everyone else. I don't think that it is Christians in particularly. It may just appear that way to you. Christians may also realize that they are forgiven and might feel more free than others to share their happiness and knowledge. If they do it right they should really be trying to HELP you and not force anything down your throat.

*Disclaimer*~ I am agnostic~
I really wish these kinds of defensive and or offensive questions would stop. To me the question is that same as asking why people why they like their favorite color and then bashing them about it. People like their religion (or non religion) for personal reasons and no amount of bad questions is going to change that. No matter how many Christians tell me I am wrong for not believing in God, at the end of the night I am the one that has to live with my thoughts on things.
~And not all christians think that they are better. My best friend is a preacher's daughter and we have great debates that make us both think about what we believe in. Maybe we need to look into ourselves to ask better questions that actually require deeper thoughts!

We are all as important as each other..therefore we should all be allowed to have our opinions about our beliefs without abuse. I think you have made a blanket statement there...we should all show respect...I do not understand why people have to accuse christians of everything..most of the murderers, rapists etc in the world are not christians. Perhaps many christians take morality etc more seriously.

We don't! Or at least the ones I know don't. No one, believer or non believer is better than the other. If you know people who act that way then they we don't have the love of Christ in them because a true christian does not act that way.
They need to repent and ask the Lord to remove all uncleanliness from them.
God Bless.
