Pope Vigilius supported the teachings of the church of reincaration, it had been in effect for over 500 hundred years!
Emperor Justinian of Rome ordered the Pope arrested, because he refused to sign a Papal degree stating that anyone who believes that souls come from God and return to God will be punished by death. A group of Cardinals convinced the Emperor that if every soul had once pre-existed with God, then Christ wasn`t anything special to have come from God. They convinced the Emperor that if the people thought they were the children of God they might think they no longer need an Emperor or pay taxes or obey the Holy Church!
They said only Christ had come from God,and God made new souls at conception and only the holy church could bring these souls to God. With out the Empire or holy church all people would be doomed to hell! So your belief in resurrection comes straight from Emperor Justiaian and has nothing to do with Jesus teachings.check out my web site TheAsender

The College of Cardinals did not exist until the 11th Cent." I believe in the Resurrection of the Body" was part of the Apostles'Creed( 3nd cent) and the Nicene Creed(c AD 327). I Cor(written before the Gospels) is fairly clear about the bodily resurrection of the individual believer. Pharisee Jewish tradition also taught belief in the resurrection of the body.

This is correct, in a limited way. In reality, there had always been a divide between what Origen termed "the somatics", that is, the body oriented, and "the Pneumatics", the spiritually minded. The "bodies" wanted to cling to the body no matter what, so their interpretation of Christian teachings was always physical, even in the next world. The Spiritually Minded had a more immaterial view, and believed in reincarnation, ultimately ending in union with God -- for all. The so called Alexandrian school tended toward the pneumatics, while the Antiochian school was more somatic. The bishops of the Fifth Eucumenical council rejected Justinian's proposal, so he had a "robber council" of lacky bishops rubber stamp his ideas, and append them to the 5th Council's declarations.

I'm so confused? You're not making much sense at all. Are you talking about Jesus' resurrection? Because that was in the Bible, and there's archeological evidence of when that was written, and it dates back before 545... you're not making sense...
