A previous poster suggested that believing that God created the universe is lazy speculation while scientists are being inellectually responsible in their theories. It seems to me that scientist proposing theories that are based on observations of the natural universe should at least theorize as to the genesis of such observations and theories. To say that the universe and time were created from an extremely dense mass of matter and energy begs the question, "Where did this mass come from and what forces caused it to explode?"

One poster said that there is no such thing as nothingness and that energy and matter has just always been but it seems to me that to carry this thought further either scientifically or philosophically, that there must be an origin or a creative spark that started all things in motion for creation. All this being said, why is it more likely that science theorems are more correct than Christian teaching on Creation? God spoke and bang all things are created.

ALSO, in the Apostle's Creed (no connection to Apollo Creed), it also states in part..."On the third day He ROSE AGAIN!" When and what other time did Jesus rise the first time in order for this statement of faith to have stated He rose again? Can anyone explain this?

I've gotten in this discussion many times, doesn't it seem more likely that Mary was cheating on Joseph, didn't want to tell him, so when He found out she was pregnant she made up a little fib?

Im sure some parents might not like the idea, but its better than the problems with a comparative religion class that might not be taught properly.

Got lots of food and water saved up?

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Its not the end/ seventh trumpet yet.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Thats nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom in War Rev 6:4.

Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Sorrows is birth pains, like a woman in travail. Closer and closer in intensity till the end is here. Birth of a new age.

What do you think about this?

13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:

A superstition is defined as:

An irrational belief that a magical object or action influences the outcome of events.

Imagine that your aunt says to you, "If you pray to God, he will answer your prayers." You ask her the obvious question, "How do you know that?" She says, "I have prayed to God hundreds of times. He always answers my prayers just like he says in the Bible." Then she quotes you two Bible verses.

In Mark 11 verse 24 Jesus says:

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

In John 14, verse 14, Jesus says:

"Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it."

This seems pretty simple. Jesus is supposed to be God. God is supposed to be perfect. When God says something, it should be true. Prayer should work. So, you decide to try it out. You pray to God in this way,

Previously a poster theorized that the fuse that lit the big bang was a gravitational force that compressed energy and matter until there was a explosion or an opposit reaction to the gravitational compression. This makes sense but where did the matter and the energy come from to begin this process? before the big bang?

I wouldn't.
In fact, I think it would be fascinating.
I'd really like to know more about Pagan holidays, or Wiccan spells.
Nor would I object to my Christian child learning these things. I'm sure their faith could handle the challenge.
Do we think our children are so mentally weak that, just because they are exposed to something in school, it will warp their thinking forever?
Are you as sure of your faith (or lack of same) as I am?
Do you have as much faith in your kids as I do in mine?
Why or why not?

like see you at the pole and fellow christian atheletes, I believe that having them on school grounds makes christians feel like they are the preferred religion in a public school setting, therefore they will try to teach the bible in school.

We haven't had a global war for over 60 years, despite having the power to exterminate each other we haven't, our life expectancy has doubled, we can cure many diseases and control others and we can immunise our children against illness.

We have free education, social security if we can't work, access to public libraries, the right to say what we want without fear or reprisal and can largley walk our own streets safely without the need to hire bodyguards.

We have travelled into space and have seen the Earth from above. We know that there are other planets and stars out there and it's almost certain we are not alone.

Thinhs are, of course, still not great in some parts of the world but - slowly and surely - we are pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps.

Maybe it's tiem to think about what we can fo today rather than worrying about soemthign that's failed to happen for 2,00 years despite things being much, much worse than they are today.

What say you?

In the USA, you hear a lot about people saying that there should be absolutely NO religion in school, that people shouldn't be able to do much of anything to do with the bible in school, etc etc.. Everyone always brings it back around to the idea of separation of church and state.

I'm curious how many times this gets misinterpreted ... In the First Amendment, it says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

It does NOT say that NO religion can be practiced, etc. In fact, if you read, it says that there shall be NO law prohibiting the free exercise thereof!! How is it then that it seems illegal to allow any kind of religion in school?

I am not referring to forced, required classes, but to things like not even allowing prayer events, etc.

From my understanding, which may be a little off I will admit, the 'founding fathers' wanted to keep the gov't from establishing an "only religion" etc.

Your thoughts?

Now, I know christianity is fake. Pretty glad it's fake to because christianity sounds like the typical macho guy created it. He says man shall not lie with man. He makes no reference to lesbians and lying with women. Sounds like something a str8 macho guy would say. How do u like that? The christian god is ok with a little lesbian action just like the str8 male. He's also like the typical macho guys in the way that his behavior shows men are superior to women. Think about it. He made men first. And he said he made women for men as a gift to men. Not only that, but he made women from men. Not to mention, if we're acting as if this is all true, he made men bigger and stronger than men. Sounds a lot like typical macho guy made this religion up. Then of course they added in the couple of morals and preaching to do good just to make it seem like the religion is so good and probably true. Way to go christians. Think like the typical macho str8 male.

What is lawlessness/sin is it the power of the other spirit working threw humanity. If the flesh counts for nothing and spirit and soul are everything what undrstanding do you have of life? If all you are is flesh why do you live, does dirt live, does a rock live? When you peel a orange there is fruit in it to eat it is good. When your flesh turns to soil whats left? People on this forum call there selves athiest yet they prowel and shoot arrows with craft. I care to say your not athiest at all but servents of Satan and apart of his Secret underwold Government/Society.

Very, very old guy with enormous wallet marries young blonde model.

Does the old guy ever really know if the model truly loves him? Or will he sometimes think if the model is just in it for the huge reward of eternal wealth? Does he feel truly loved, you think?

God offers us eternal life in Heaven as a reward for loving him. Do you think God feels loved? Or will he sometimes think we're all just in it for the reward? Or shouldn't I worry so much about His feelings?
