Thank you! Unkind speech of any kind only generates more anger and harm. Altruism, wisdom and compassion is far better.

People are a lot more active in their religion/beliefs than you seem to think. People are told one point of view by a religion - but their school, their university, their friends, lectures and teachers tell them many other religious opinions. And on top of that, people have the choice (usually) of what to believe.

As for people who are brought up in one religion and are taught to be really fearful of disobedience to it, and are threatened with being rejected by family and community if they do reject it = they obviously have little choice. And I don't think that will ever stop, there will always be people who want to control others' beliefs. And it is scary when these controlled beliefs extend to society's law and government, too - then there is no real escape possible for people.

No matter how much science is able to explain the universe and life, religious people will ignore the facts and continue to teach their children their mythological beliefs. People conveniently forget to use their brains when they are constantly fed the lies about eternal life. I suppose that religion will go on for centuries more, and I find the thought depressing.

There is as much harm done in the world due to politics and other things as with religion. should we stop having governments?
I have a faith in God and have never harmed anyone in His name. It is not the belief in God, or Allah etc...that causes people to damage and kill, it's the twisted way that people seem to perceive things.
I don't believe for a second that if there were no religions, that there would be no wars etc...people would just fight over something else.
People also seem to easily forget that there have been great things done in the name of God.

Jesus Christ is the only way, He IS the Way the Truth and the Life, regardless of what psuedo secular fabricated lies the world has told you.

By FAR the greatest reaon that all religions flourish is the indoctrination of young and impressionable children, who do not suspect that their parents have any reason to misguide them.
Eventually, everyone will wise up and this process will cease but NOT in Islamic countries, where childhood indoctrination is the LAW!!!
Thus, as usual, muslims will be several hundred years behind the remainder of us.
When?
Not in my lifetime.

I don't believe an Atheistic and/or agnostic world is a perfect answer. Just look at Europe, they lost their religion and now they're atheist, and its a mess! They have arabian muslims causing trouble, anti-americanism everywhres, etc..

I think the answer is having all sorts of religions as long as they are peaceful and do not promote violence of any sort. As south park says, a future society that gets rid of "isms".

All religions that generally promote peace need to be accepted or else there won't be religious peace.

For centuries people have tried in vain to destroy the Bible. And time and again, it has failed. (Look it up. Some of the most violent assaults were against Christians. And to get a better "Feel" of what the Christian was like, look into "Apology of Aristides The Philosopher.") Faith is stronger than anything that I know of. And the only harm comes from non-believers, and people who abuse Religion for their own purpose or wealth.

Perhaps soon we will become as wise as Stalin, who abolished religion, and murdered 40 million of his fellow countrymen in the name of godless communism. We can only hope.

The reason religion keeps flourishing is that many have found for themselves (as opposed to being indoctrinated) that it is not only the only hope for the future, it is the best reason for the present.

Your view is intellectual - theirs is based on experience.

Think I'll go with theirs
