preacher, that they are resorting back to what the early Christians of the Catholic church fought so hard to achieve in the first place? The early Christians of the Catholic church wanted to have the Bible to read for themselves. We have the priviledge of having the Bible to read today, but we don't take advantage of it. Why?

What is the most polite way for me to convey that I do not wish to receive you’re Watchtowers? In all seriousness and sincerity! I don’t want to be rude and just shut the door, but if I say no thank you, the lady just keeps on. Tries to give me coloring books for the kids and everything. What could I possible say to let you know that I am not interested. Because she keeps coming back.

***Please no nasty comments.***

In fact, people of all relgions....I have a question

Let's take something intangible that you are ultimately striving for. For instance Christians may strive for heaven, Athiests have their own personal goals but just for it's own sake I'll say something like happiness, so and so forth for each creed. Let's call this goal x

Would you work harder for x if you didn't know exactly how or when you can reach it?

Let me explain further. If you knew you would reach x by doing z and y, would life be more fullfilling knowing you will ultimately reach x? Would that make you over confident? Would that make you feel secure? Would that make you feel your purpose fullfilled and the rest of your life a bit meanignless?

Or would you strive for x not knowing how or when you will reach it? Will that make you nervous? Will that give you more motivation? Would that give your life meaning or make life worse?

Just a question.

I am sick of Christians hating on certain groups or certain people. It makes me sick to see my own brethren discarding what most of the Bible is about--God and His will. You'll find that some of the priests, pastors, and rabbis nowadays are just like the pharisees back in Jesus' day. It's all a repeat.

Hey, do you think that the fisherman, tax collectors, and sinners that Jesus took with him believed in God in the beginning? Do you think that they were righteous men? Naw... if you do, you got it all wrong. We're being called to spread the Good Word, not spread the religion.

And that cause is God...,

Then using the same logic, God, by default, is something too.
This demands that he have a cause as well.

So, what caused God?

You can use the "Bible" all you want to disprove or prove God, but the fact is that hundreds of varieties of "Gods" & "Bibles" are in existence, but I have yet to see a one of them anywhere!

Bible aside, following this logical example posted above...,

If you were to say that everything that is needs a cause, so that has to be God, then overlooking the "Oh, God doesn't need a cause because he always has been" bologna, we see you can't just pick & choose what things to apply this law to.

Otherwise, you could just as well discredit the works of doctors & say God healed you instead.

If you think God is doing everything, why don't you stop putting your faith in doctors & only trust in God then?

What's that, you afraid God won't heal you?
Pity, sounds like a nice God!!!

Ok, back to work, what caused God? Applies to all things!!!

So, which version (s) of the Bible do you read and why do you prefer that version (KJV & NCV are my favorites. KJV is "meaty" and NCV is simple to understand).

first one is serious.. 2nd isnt.

1st: would anyone be willing to compromise on abortion.. maybe like.. make it legal during the 1st or 2nd month(s) then illegal after that?

2nd: hmm arent babies like living tumors? theyre still connected to the mother by the cord.. which would make them part of the mother.. therefore not actually a "murder"?

Old Buddhist parable:

4 men were looking at at elephant while blindfolded, were asked to describe what they were experiencing.

The first man said "this is a snake like creature- it is long and thin and tubelike

The second said, "no, this creature is like a broom- with a handle, and a brush at the bottom"

The third said "no, this creature is like a tree trunk- thick and firm and circular"

The fourth says "no, you are all wrong, this creature is like paper, broad and thin and flexible."

The men's blindfolds are taken off, and they realize, they were all right, but they had each only experienced part of the elephant- the trunk, the tail, a leg, and an ear. Because the elephant was so big, they could not experience it all at once, and felt only what was close to them, but they were all experiencing the same thing.

Do you feel this is a good analogy for God? Why or why not?

As ex militry personnel......I noticied that EVERY single religion on the planet was accepted on base and had a right to use of facilities for meeting purposes....Welllllll except JW's........If you examine the differences in the messages between the 2, there really is not a difference.....And ppl except the field ministry of the Latter Day Saints, but they are doing the EXACT same thing as JW's! Why do ppl accept LDS before JW? We both try and have you accept a bible study, we both go door to door in the field ministry and among all we both love our father in the heavens! So why then do LDS become accepted before JW's????? I would really appreciate no stupidity this one time.... PLEASE?????? in advance thank you for your answers

i havent really asked any questions about god yet, but why do some people on here write god like g-d? god is a figure, not an actuall name, so not saying gods name in vein is not saying the word god in vien. he has a name, halo-i dont know if thats spelled right, but god is not his name, its his title, so why do you write it that way? just curious, please dont get offended

I used to feel that there was an 'A List' and a 'B List' in the congregation. I am shy and was looking for acceptance for my 'true' self - and I found that feeling very distressing. I believe very much in God, and there were some very wonderfull people at that church. It was more a 'group dynamics' type of thing such as you get everywhere. I feel quite sure it exists in all churches. I think it is a very destructive problem though, as over the 8 years I attended I saw a number of 'unattractive' people leave. Yes, I was as friendly as I could be. What do others think?

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word "God" is mentioned; a kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer.

School Prayer

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd!

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen
