A real Christian shouldn't "hate" anyone.

God bless,

Well, I want to answer this sincerely, but my first instinct is to be goofy and say...Because they ask dumb questions like this. So, now I'm ready to be sincere.

Seriously, do you personally know some christians who hate atheists? Because if you do, then maybe you should use their own Beliefs to question them. A good question would be, is hate a christian emotion? Is it preached in your church that you should be hateful and rude to people who don't believe like you? Have you ever heard the saying that you catch more flies with honey? and do you know what that means?

See, if they can answer those questions and seriously think it's okay to hate atheists, then they are immature in their understanding of christianity. Christians are to show that they are christians by the love they have for people...so to show hate to anyone is exactly the opposite of what christians would do.

You should know that christians believe that they are to share the good news that Jesus is the Son of the Living God. Since atheists don't believe in a Living God, that can generate some heated conversations between the two sides. It shouldn't generate hate, but maybe it is perceived that way just because the two beliefs are sooo opposite.

It's not because they think atheists are hurting anyone, it's because they are afraid atheists may be hurting themselves in the long run. See, if the atheists are wrong...and then they die...it's too late to change their position and the repercussions could be devastating. But, if christians are wrong...and then they die...oh well, there are no repercussions.

Understand? I hope so...I am a christian and I certainly do not hate anyone.

Just a thought. If you didn't stereotype all Christians into that group of radical fundamentalists who try to shove their doctrine down others throats, then you might not find 'All' Christians react that way. This world is a two way street, we all have to do our bit, and not ask whether or not others are doing theirs.
In essence it comes down to all of us, no matter what we believe, to become a bit more tolerant and understanding of others, and that's the great thing about a site like this, is that if people treat it seriously enough it's an excellent way to lift the air of mistrust and intolerance because it's a great place to learn!

Do you mean atheist ( a person who does not believe there is no deity)? I am a christian and I do not hate atheist. I have not called them a sinner, the word of God calls thems sinners and called me a sinner also when I chose to live a life of sin. Sins can be desirable and even bring pleasure, however, the end result can be undesirable, painful and even lead to death. Sex ( aids, venereal disease, unwanted pregnancy), smoking (lung cancer, asthma, emphysema), drinking (fatal car accidents, liver problems, acts of violence), lies (a whole lot of emotional pain), just to name a few. When I accepted Christ Jesus into my heart he gave me power over these very sins that enslaved me. slave- one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence. These sins can be pleasurable but the consequences are not and yet most of us are not able to stop. Who really wants pleasure at the risk of killing themself. I care what they believe because the way to salvation is believing. I believed and have been set free from the bondage of sin and my love for others gives me a desire for them to be free and experience the joy I've experience without all the painful consequences. It does hurt me when I see someone suffering due to choosing to live a life of sin. Is it right to assume that all Christians feel the same way? I am a Christian and I don't hate anyone. True christians are filled with his spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. May God Bless and add a blessing to the reader of these words in Jesus Name. Amen

I do not hate atheists. You are right. My faith isn't hurting someone who is atheist and their lack of faith isn't hurting me either. I think some people are very bitter because people of different beliefs lash out and do act hateful on purpose. It has nothing to do with their faith or lack of it, it's got everything to do with their immaturity and their intolerance. I do not think you should lump every Christian together and say we all hate atheists. Christians should lump all Atheists together either. It just promotes misunderstanding. I care what someone believes simply because I am curious and I want to know how someone thinks. If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't be on this board.

Who ever said Christians hate anyone?
I think it says we are to Love everyone as we would ourselves.
It also says to even Love your enemies and do good to those who persecute you. So I think you might want to reevaluate your thinking. I for one am not concerned for anyone who chooses not to believe the bible nor would I want to control them to do so. You have free will and I doubt Atheist hate Christians either as you say. All a person can do is share the word of God with people and if they choose different then they are on their own. I certainly wish the best for them because it says that God does not wish any to parish, so why would a Christian? God Bless you brother!

Well, that isn't true, it's a generalization of all Christians. I'm a Christian who doesn't hate athiests, or anyone else. To disagree does not mean to hate. Or at least, it shouldn't.

I'm a Christian and I don't hate atheist. God doesn't hate athiests either, He just hates their sin, but He hates a Christian's sin too.

I think maybe you're misinterpreting what Christian's really think.

No, no Christians hate atheists.

Some Christians felt like they are the guidance to atheists, they are the light, they are a messenger to god, they felt like a parent try to discipline their wayward child, they felt like they are the masters as they had found their alleged truth first. They felt they are the superior ones having converted first. They just feel like you are evil in not believing what they believed.....

In short, they are afraid they are wrong and to make sure other people do not find out they are wrong, they want to make others to be like them. Kind of understandable.

We don't... There are some judgemental christians just as there are some judgemental atheists. I back up what you said, it's your life, we DO care about you because you are one of God's children, however it IS your life and you have the agency to choose to believe whatever you want.
God Bless,
Sarah

We don't hate Atheists....Why do you think that we spend time here?....to torture people psyches? We are simply sharing and defending the Gospel,as it was presented to us also when we were as you are.(we were not born as Christians). If we do not...we will collectively be held accountable. This is the religious forum...what do you expect?
