Papa Bear, your answer was a real hoot! But filled with truth. Jehovah's Witnesses are doing the same work that Jesus and his disciples did. I am sure it was disturbing to those Jews who had their own religion and were not interested in learning about any new Messiah.
Still, the Christians kept on preaching. Where would Christianity be today if they did not?
To answer the question, it is not our intention to be rude either, nor to harass anyone. We preach because Jesus said, "Go, preach..." But Jesus also said, to put it in modern terms, if the householder is truly not interested, thank them and move on to the next house. (Luke 10:5, 6) So we do that, too.
As has been mentioned already, you can request to be put on our "Don't Call" or, as it is referred to where I live, the "No-Knock" list, and that is generally honored. Occasionally, someone may work a territory and forget to check the list, but that is the unusual case.
Our interests are served in having peaceful relations with our neighbors. Our ministry is an expression of God's love and ours, but in the world today that is often misunderstood.
Please be assured of our best wishes.

Hi! Being one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 20 years do exactly what you've been doing. If you do not wish to talk then it is your right to not answer the door. You seem like a very sweet and kind person for which I can see why Jehovah God keep sending these wonderful loving people to your door. Why they are persistent is that if you can see things getting progressively worse on this planet they are trying to teach you that God's Kingdom Government will soon end all man kinds ills and return this earth to a paradise earth that Adam and Eve lost by their sinning.
They could show in your Bible exactly where it proves that Satan is the trouble behind all earthly governments. Being Christians we have to respect them as long as it doesn't interfere with our serving God's laws. By the way I'm not sure how one person would make a call to your door. We are instructed to go in twos as Jesus sent his followers Luke 10:1. Be careful all and make sure that these ARE Jehovah's Witnesses and not some criminal. Take Care!

At times, a question such as this will elicit dozens and dozens of elaborate schemes to spare a householder an unwanted conversation with Jehovah's Witness door-to-door ministers.
All such schemes are a complete and utter waste of time!
Many of your neighbors have figured it out, and it's really quite simple:
1. Open the door
2. Smile (optional)
3. Ask "Jehovah's Witness?"
4. Receive affirmation
5. Say, "Thank you, but I'm not interested"
6. Gently close the door (slamming is rude, but your prerogative)
Please recognize that Jehovah's Witnesses are not primarily interested in converts, but in working to obey Jesus' command to preach (Matt 24:14; Matt 28:19,20).

The best way to learn what to do to stop JWs is to contact a synagogue and talk to the Rabbi.
Ask him how the ancient Jews got rid of the Christian Jews when they went from house to house telling their brethren that the beliefs, rituals, and holiday observances that they have followed for hundreds of years was no longer valid?
I’m sure the ancient Israelites had ways to get rid of the members, who from their point of view, were a Jewish cult started by an uneducated Jewish lower class Carpenter, who was executed for cause by the governing authority. The only education he got was from his lower class parents, Mary and Joseph. These followers were also of the Jewish lower class, and uneducated, such as Peter, a failed fisherman, and Matthew, a tax hated collector.
Lacking any kind of education, let alone advance religious education, it was clear to those around them that they were brainwashed into believing that the uneducated ex-carpenter was somehow the Messiah, which was clearly false as it was commonly known that when the Messiah came, he would destroy (Armageddon) the enemies of the true people of God, as foretold.
Saul of Tarsus, a highly educated individual in the religious arts, repeatedly proved they were a false religious sect and cult, creating their own scriptures (Bible) instead of relying on the Holy Torah, which had been used by the Jews for hundreds of years. He often stood by as the true believers of God stoned these so-called Christians for their door to door activities and spreading of false doctrine.

Now, I would not recommend stoning, but they may have had other methods that worked to stop the house to house work and the spreading of false doctrine. What worked for them against the this Jewish cult may work against the JW Christians, as the are just repeating the same mistakes and errors in beliefs as Peter, Matthew, and all the others they had convinced to turn their backs on God's true followers, Israel.

Thank you for the polite and clearly written Q. We do not publish coloring books. If she is repeatly trying to give you things, clearly she sees a friendship that is not there. Sadly, not all humans get it when someone says no. We try to be understanding, but sometimes intent clouds judgement. If it is specificly one person who is the problem. Then please try one last time saying No thank you, please do not come back, and then shut your door. If the woman, presumably a sister, comes back, you can try calling a local Kingdom Hall. Explain your situation. The Brothers can try to find the sister and help her understand that you really do not want her coming back. I hope it works out. Thanks for not being rude.

All anyone has to do is say , "I don't want you back at my door". We will take out the map of your territory and mark your house off. Then we will try again in about 5 yrs to see if you have changed your mind.
If you accept the literature we will assume you are interested and we will be back for further discussion.
This is a separating work also. You are separating yourselves from the ones that will get a favorable recommendation from the angels about you to God. It's on your head.
Until we have it written on the map not to go back to your door we will keep trying to reach a listening ear.

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society does not produce coloring books. Are you sure it's one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

Simply ask her to please put you on her "Do Not Call List". We are not looking for those who are satisfied with world conditions and the way the majority of people treat eachother. We are only looking for the "sheep" that Jesus said would recognize his voice and come out.

Just say no thankyou I am not interested.
The thing about Jehovah's Witnesses is that they believe in salvation through works. According to their teachings they believe that only 144,000 people will be going to heaven. They also believe that you can only get to heaven through good deeds.( ie: salvation through works).
The reason they doorknock is because they think the more people they 'recruit' to their beliefs the better chance they have of getting to heaven, that's my understanding anyway. I could have some of the specifics wrong, but I think that's the general idea.
I really feel sorry for them.
But seriously if they won't leave you alone just tell them you can't read.

You might tell her you admire her and her commitment to her beliefs but you have your own beliefs and are happy with them.Tell her to have a good day and maybe she will find someone who would love to listen. And then close the door.
