Sorry, it's just that an answerer to a previous question suggested correcting currency in such a way that it would no longer violate the separation of church & state was "dogmatic"... it seemed like a very curious assertion indeed. Anyone agree?

I am a mormon, first of all, and i am proud of it.
i was just wondering if any of you have heard some mythology about us. like that mormons have horns and all that nonsense. for more information visit www.mormons.org (PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER WITH A STUPID COMMENT, I DON'T CARE IF YOU HATE MORMONS, BUT AT LEAST TAKE THE TIME TO GET EDUCATED ABOUT US AND NOT BELIEVE STUPID RUMMORS)

preaching against homosexuality is frowned on so much more than preaching against any other sin these days? Do people think that God changes His rules for us just because some people consider them to be politically correct?

Also, the Bible says that we were ALL born sinners, but that God can save us from our sins if we surrender our lives to Him, so why do homosexuals think they're justified in using their "I was born this way" excuses as the reason to continue living in blatant disobedience of God's law?

I'd like to know if n/e1 is familiar w/ the fable by The Bros. Grimm; "The Fisherman and his Wife". A man out fishing hooks a talking fish,he lets it go ,goes home & tells his wife. She makes him go back to ask for a wish.In the story the man's wife continually wants more then she already has. After 3 visits, she requests to be Pope. And the husband says "how can u even think of being Pope?He is the head of Christendom" In the end she sees the sun rise and wants to be able to do this. The husband says "she wants to be Ruler of the Universe".She got everything taken away that she asked for & had been granted to her.
Q: is it just me, am I seeing alot more in this story, then a child's bedtime story?
Pls... I'd really appreciate ur knowledge, research, opinions, etc...
The part referring to Pope=Christiendom, really opened my eyes. Then the sunrise= ruler of the universe, made me really wonder, is there more to this story , then just a child's fable

these people of the 3rd gender are who they are just coz they tend to fall in love with the person of the same gender. and that's it. doesn't make them evil at all. i know it says in the bible that they aren't accepted. but what about the fact that God loves us all no matter what?

I'm a reliable Christian because I can be judged on the strong moral standards of Jesus Christ.

What makes you reliable?

If you get reincarnated -

1. what would you like to be?
2. what do you think you will be?
3. will "drat! not again!" be your first conscious thoughts?

If you answer "human" to 1 or 2, please name race, gender, location, and tattoo.

...In the first sentence - I said "IF"!

I know this was posted this morning...but, in case you just signed on...

Why aren't other people alarmed that the divorce rate for pastors is 50%?
These are people preaching from the pulpit every Sunday about morals....

Telling you and I how we should live our lives.

People look to them for inspiration/direction

Doesn't this make them a hypocrite?

Sure I sin, but I do not stand in front of a bunch of people pounding my fist on the pulpit and telling everyone else what sinners they are.

There is such a double standard among fundamentalists...pick on the gays because they are fewer in numbers...but, oh no stay away from preaching about divorce because it affects too many....

I think pastors and churches are just afraid of losing the divorced people's monetary contribution to the church...so, they look the other way on this sin....

What hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not an indictment, but an honest call to prayer, intercession, repentence and love, starting with me. Also, I understand that my conviction does not have to be your own. May s/he who has ears to hear, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the church (not me, but His servant, please see link below).

The LORD has been dealing w/my heart towards atheists and other visitors in the R&S section. I repent for my harshness towards unbelievers and people of beliefs different than my own.

at one point at the VT candle light vigil, last night, that they started to sing Amazing Grace. How do you feel in similar situations? When you know that expressing your belief might lead to putting you down? Do you bow your head to fit in with the crowd or do you stand there, staunchly, head up and eyes open????

Can anyone point out a text written about Jesus? The question is because I'm specifically looking for accounts that would be contemporary (ie, during Jesus' life time) and secular (this means a text other than the bible). Thanks in advance.

All sins seem to be equal.

Let's assume a Christian threatens to kill me. After the threat he has 2 option:

1) He doesn't kill me. Which means he lied to me. That is a huge sin!

2) He knows if he isn't gonna kill me, he's a liar. So, he's a sinner anyway, and can just as well kill me. It's just as bad of a sin.

So, what would prevent him from killing me?

I just don't think it would be heaven unless Kitty and Kevin were there (my cats).
And, if the Christian God says that our pets can't come with us, or at least visit and hang out, well, then all chances of me going Christian are shot
