Methusala was legendary at over 800 years of age before he died.
Perhaps some of the "Battleship Earth" lore came from the Bible, i.e. long-lived giants.

Presumably the guy who wrote the bible, was he a journalist or what? The question is when did he pop his clogs and what was he doing in the Garden of Eden in the first place?

Methuselah lived for 200 years, allegedly. I don't know if God can be counted as a Man, God is a deity.

I think some characters didn't actually die, they ascended, like Mary (mother of God.)

If I am not mistaken it is Enoch. The bible never mentions that he dies... it just says that he was taken by God. All other people mentioned in the Bible specifically say they died.

That would be Methuselah who lived to be 969 years old. He died before his father though.
