I'd like to know if n/e1 is familiar w/ the fable by The Bros. Grimm; "The Fisherman and his Wife". A man out fishing hooks a talking fish,he lets it go ,goes home & tells his wife. She makes him go back to ask for a wish.In the story the man's wife continually wants more then she already has. After 3 visits, she requests to be Pope. And the husband says "how can u even think of being Pope?He is the head of Christendom" In the end she sees the sun rise and wants to be able to do this. The husband says "she wants to be Ruler of the Universe".She got everything taken away that she asked for & had been granted to her.
Q: is it just me, am I seeing alot more in this story, then a child's bedtime story?
Pls... I'd really appreciate ur knowledge, research, opinions, etc...
The part referring to Pope=Christiendom, really opened my eyes. Then the sunrise= ruler of the universe, made me really wonder, is there more to this story , then just a child's fable

This fable is merely a story for anyone who prefers it to remain so. Any deeper meaning must be subjective, since the fable's origins are unknown.
A bible reader might note that this tale seems a rather obvious reminder of the historical account of Adam and Eve, with the fish representing Satan (the original serpent).
(Genesis 3:1) Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts
(Genesis 3:5) "God knows that in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like God"
(Genesis 3:6) Consequently the woman saw that the tree was good... it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable
(Genesis 3:12) And the man went on to say: “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree and so I ate.”
(Genesis 3:13) Jehovah God said to the woman: “What is this you have done?” To this the woman replied: “The serpent - it deceived me
(Genesis 3:17) [God] said: “Because you listened to your wife’s voice... cursed is the ground on your account. In pain you will eat its produce all the days of your life.
It was Eve who was tempted to be like God, and it was Adam who merely sought to please his wife so much that he joined her in offending heaven. Sadly, humans continue to blame God and others for their problems and continue to view Satanic things as "golden".

During the dark ages, most of the known world was under Papal rule. Bibles were burned, and those known to have any bits of scripture were martyred. Many think of the holocaust as a terrible act, but the papal inquisitions murdered 50 to 100 million christians, all because they refused to bow down to the Pope. He was declared to be Christ, Himself, and have all the perogatives of God. Martin Luther declared that Rome was built on top of hell. All this is history that is as true as the compass is to the poles, but guess who has tried to bury all of this information? I have not even touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the papal powers that be. The Bible clearly speaks of "MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT" and American public schools use to teach that the papacy was the fulfillment of this prophecy. No other power on earth has ever, nor will ever be able to fit all of the Biblical requirements of the being the antichrist power of Daniel and Revelation. She is Satan's mistress, Satan's right hand church. Protestantism actually got her name from protesting the heresies of the Roman Catholic church. Sprung from a blend of paganism and christianity, she has come forth, ruthlessly killing and subduing any who dare go against her. Though she has publically apologized, and taken on sheep's clothing, she still holds the same principles today, that actuated her during the dark ages. Her wine of seductive doctrines have been seeping into churches, legislative halls and hearts of men. Let the warnings of the Bible go unheeded, and we shall soon know, and shall soon feel, what the purpose of the Roman element truly is. Her goals are to regain control of the world, undue all that Protestantism has done, and to restart persecution. She is biding her time, all she desires is vantage ground, and this has already been given to her. If you would like to know what the word of God has to say about her, you can read the book Great Controversy, or you can contact me at michaelsseed14@yahoo.com. God bless.

I agree with "holy_see". I think she get's greedy, like many people who are given power.
She want's to eventually take the position as God.
I like how her husband pointed out that Pope is the head of Christendom, makes you think.
More than just a child's fable, adults would understand the concepts more and, it definitely makes you think!
Great point!

Not a JW, but I think it talks about people wanting to take on the throne of God. Never a good idea.
