I've noticed this for awhile. And it happened again recently. Whenever I ask a certain group a question there is always at least one or two here and there who don't answer the question with an actual useful answer. Why do they do this. It's trolling and it's annoying. I mean are some people that desperate for points? The points are meaningless.

"The acerra, "A-KER-rah" is a special container for sacred incense."

The Acerra usually has a lid (and my couldron thingy doesnt) but i need an Acerra and this seems perfect to me.

Or a Salinum?

The salinum, "Sa-LEE-num" is a container for sacred purifying salt.

Or a Gutus?

The gutus, "GOO-tus" is a container for sacred milk or wine that is offered to the gods.

What do you think?

I know this question gets asked in rotation, but I haven't seen it here in a while, so here goes...

What is the biggest myth or misconception that people have about your religion? Which one annoys you most?

It's a hard choice for me, but personally I'd go with "Wiccans sacrifice to Satan!" It's wildly inaccurate not just once (hello? the Wiccan Rede? "If you harm none, do what you will"?) but twice (Wiccans don't buy into the whole God/Satan thing and have no real equivalent being in our cosmology, that is, nobody in the position of an Adversary to an otherwise "good" God).

I realize this may be too long, pick out 1 or 2 and then answer

Somadeva: a Buddhist ascetic's eye once offended him, so he plucked it out and cast it away.
Matt 5:29: If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away...

Somadeva: One day a disciple of Buddha meets with Matangi, a woman of the low caste of the Kandalas and asks for some water. She tells him what she is, and that she must not come near him. He replies: My sister, I ask not for your caste of your family, I ask only for a draught of water. She afterwards became a disciple of Buddha.
John 4:7-9: There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her give me a drink. For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him: How is it that you a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria? For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

Why does that mean that we should ban gay marriage? The Bible also says premarital sex and divorce are bad, and society certainly hasn't banned those! Christians don't do it, or they repent and stop doing so, and try to keep others from doing so, so why can't the same go for homosexuality?

Also, is the Bible's bashing of homosexuality a mistranslation? Please don't answer this part unless you or your direct source is a Hebrew dictionary or a person who speaks Hebrew.

Thanks!

Is disbelief in God the same as absence/lack of belief?

I've always gotten the two mixed up.

Isn't there someplace else these people can go to shoot their mouths off about how stupid and ignorant believers in general and Christians specifically are? I'd think this was a place to discuss our views on faith WITHOUT being attacked for having some. To hostile athiests/agnostics: don't you have something better to do? Honestly!

If so why? I don't ask to be offensive by any stretch of the imagination. I ask simply to gain insight. For instance what would you tell an Agnostic or even an Atheist or any nontheist for that matter to persuade them to theism? Respectful answers please.

Matthew 6:7

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Exodus 20:3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

If God created your soul/spirit...making you a DIRECT son or daughter of him and since Christ also refers to God as Abba or Father..when he took our sins upon himself in the Garden of Gethsemane...then we are Christ's younger brothers and sisters...

Why can we not pray to our Heavenly Father directly since is is the maker of our souls? We ARE worthy to talk to our Heavenly Father

I'm an atheist therefore i don't believe in god but, if i believed in a god why would i worship it if it doesn't give me back anything in return i'm not a materialistic person but let me tell you i never had a hint of good "luck" in my life the only good thing in my life is death
and i don't know about you but i rather have whatever i need or want right here on earth than to be sitting next to an old fart in some candyland in the sky
