Why does that mean that we should ban gay marriage? The Bible also says premarital sex and divorce are bad, and society certainly hasn't banned those! Christians don't do it, or they repent and stop doing so, and try to keep others from doing so, so why can't the same go for homosexuality?
Also, is the Bible's bashing of homosexuality a mistranslation? Please don't answer this part unless you or your direct source is a Hebrew dictionary or a person who speaks Hebrew.

I meant the mistranslation thing to be a small side question!
And to blondiebaby: Uhmm... You didn't answer my question. And it offends me, for the sake of my Jewish friends, that you think
a) only Jews have access to Hebrew dictionaries.
b) only Jews have access to Jews who speak Hebrew.
c) nonbody besides Jewish people speak Biblical Greek.
and
d) you have to be Jewish to answer the first, main question!

I kind of recently changed my mind about all this... I still don't think gay marriages should be allowed in churches, synagogues, or other holy places where the religion is against it, but what if it was more of a legal bonding, a legal ceremony at a court or someplace, that gives gay people the same rights as married people? Can you imagine how sad it must be to never have a child cuz you're gay? Gays make great parents, at least the ones I know. As for mixing that w/religion, nuh-uh.

You are right that the bible says premarital sex and divorce are bad (though divorce is biblically allowed for one reason - adultery), and those two things are no longer banned by society. But at one time...a long time ago a divorced person certainly was looked down upon. (that was pretty much before my time, though shades of it remained that I recall as a child). And I do recall the times when a couple (male/female) would want to rent an apartment together and many times found it difficult to find a landlord who would allow it. So it had it's own controversy in its time too. Over time, things gradually get accepted. Which is what will likely (and already is) happen with gay marriage.
I'm not saying it's right...I'm just saying that is probably what will happen. Especially in light of the times in which we live.
As for your question about the bible's "bashing" of homosexuality being a mistranslation...I do not speak Hebrew or have a Hebrew dictionary, but I just wonder why it is you question that particular portion of the translation and nothing else.

How can it be a mistranslation? So many Bibles say that it doesn't. There also a group called the Hebrew-Israelites, and they learn Hebrew in order to read the Bible directly. I don't think there's a mistranslation.
Society hasn't banned all those things because not everyone is Christian and some 'Christians' still do those things. I doubt gay marriage will ever be banned...same with divorce and premarital sex. The world is just corrupt these days and you can't depend on the society anymore. Persevere in prayer and continue the love the Lord more each day!

So only Jews can answer since you want this as a direct source from a Hebrew dictionary or someone who speaks Hebrew? The Bible has not been mistranslated, God is specific in homosexuality is an abomination, why can't you understand this?

Marriage is an institution whose time has come to an end..Give it to the gays and get it out of the heterosexual community. I say the sooner the better.
It is as disgusting to use the penis in the anus of a woman as it is in the anus of a man so some things are naturally repulsive; that's how the first laws came into being....but I do not condemn gays for they are subject to an anomaly in the dna which eventually will be cured. But they should have their own bars and clubs and cities just like they had in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Leviticus 18:22 "A man shall not lie with a man as with a woman. It is an abomination."
There is no such thing as gay 'marriage' because marriage is a covenant between God, a man and a woman. That is why women have a hymen. In the Old Testament, when a covenant was made, blood had to be shed.

I’m not Hebrew, so I’ll just answer your first question. Society does not ban divorce or premarital sex because our society is not based on biblical morals. Sad to admit but not everything legal is right, and not everything right is legal.Just like abortion— it is legal in some states, but clearly, it is the willful termination of life of a child (in short: murder). Christians are trying to explain & fight for the Bible’s (likewise, God’s) standard of morals in today’s blinded society.
On a note, if homosexuality seems to be bashed by Christians, as most would term it, it’s cuz it’s clearly an abominable act that was not blessed in the Bible to be done in terms of marriage. Correction may hurt your emotions, but there’s more to humans than emotions. There is a bigger God who knows what’s best for us.
