This is exactly my position on this subject and I need help. I am clearly not an atheist because I still have hope but not faith. I find religion rhetoric totally illogical and delusional and I do not believe in one word the bible says. I don't beleive in Jesus and I am really angry if there is a God and think he is totally wrong for all the things he has accomplished thus far but I refuse to fear him and any notion of going to hell for it, so where does that leave me? How do I fit in, how do I classify myself now? I guess Im just one of those people, I need to fit in somewhere. Any suggestions............be nice this is my spirituality im throwing out here and I dont need smart *** answers.

I am not Jewish, but I deal with a lot of Jewish people on a daily basis. What does this phrase "Shabbat Shalom" mean and what is the appropriate response? Should I say "you too" or say it back to the person who said it to me. I don't want to be rude or ignorant...help!

The Mayans have a pretty good one. So do the Hindus. The Hebrews' Genesis story is quite charming. But my favorite is the ancient Egyptian creation story, far older than these.

It all started when the creator-God masturbated. His seed turned into all the later deities. They created the world. One of them, Osiris, became both man and God, died and was resurrected, and gives eternal life to all those who believe in him and remember him in the sacred meal of bread and wine.

Should our children in schools be offered these creation accounts too, side by side with the scientific story? Then they could make up their own minds.

JK, of course.

I was invited to a baby's christening. I asked why are you getting your baby christened? She said, "Because it's tradition!"

I laughed, and asked her if she knew why. She said she didn't. Her Mother didn't even know!!!!! Is that pitiful, or what? Why would a person not know why they are doing that? If it's their own religion, and they don't know, why do they even claim they are religious in the first place? For good measure? Because they are told they have to, and never research to find out why?

I told her, if she didn't know why, then there was really no reason for me to go. If she figured out why she was supposed to do that, to call me, and I would go, even though I am not a Catholic, and don't believe in christening a baby.

How common is it for people to do things in their life that somehow reflect their religion, yet they don't know "WHY" they are doing it?

Does it count as "taking the LORD's name in vain"?

What exactly is "mocking", anyway? I mean, I know I can look it up in the dictionary, but give me some guidelines here... what counts as "mocking God" and what doesn't?

How can any human make that kind of decision?
Usually a result of what your parents or legal gaurdians believe.
And you continue the tradition. I grew up baptist, and now i am in-between on faith.I am just making this point, because no one should believe for others!Find your own salvation!

Do you think as time goes on you will see them arising out of the masses?

Just like they were in olden times.
Perhaps because they are needed.

First off, let me say I am a Christian. I just hate to throw that word around so lightly, because so many have tainted the term.

Why do some, I am not saying all but some. Why do some of have act so high and mighty. Self-righteous and judgmental, especially when talking to non-believers?
We as humans are all in the same boat. No matter if your a Christian of 20 years or you don't even know the Lord.

Jeremiah 17: 9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

If it is Islam, we all have to learn Arabic. At least we'll have the whole eternity to do so.
If it is the God from the bible, then I'd rather go somewhere else.

Or do you think it is the work of the devil. And wouldn't cloning show that god has no control over creating a human, so children can also be made without gods help.

Why do chrisitins use a silly argument of can a watch/car evolve at random to put down evolution?

Are watches organic matter ? no

If you keep walking on rough ground your feet adapt as you are organic... thats how evolution works.

If you rub a watch on the ground it does not adapt as not alive.

Its interacting with other life and the world that species evolve... And take time, a very long time to do so.

The closest to this is how economies evolve without help in a macro sence.

ie with competition you get improvemtns... only in this case of species its not planned in any way.

So a birds eyes did not simply develop at random like you thik evolution works.

It was over time eyes developed as birds strained eyesight to see prey and the birds with the best eyesight did best, got the most mates and survived long enough to get offsping.

Thats how it works.

It does not have to be tough.

It can be the cuter the cats the more they get bred
