First off, let me say I am a Christian. I just hate to throw that word around so lightly, because so many have tainted the term.
Why do some, I am not saying all but some. Why do some of have act so high and mighty. Self-righteous and judgmental, especially when talking to non-believers?
We as humans are all in the same boat. No matter if your a Christian of 20 years or you don't even know the Lord.
Jeremiah 17: 9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

gorgeoustxwoman2,
My thoughts on homosexuality.
That goes along the same lines.
When compared to an infinite holy God, we are all in the same boat. It doesn't matter if your gay or you lied to your mother when you where a kid about taking a cookie from the cookie jar. We are all sinners. No one fit to judge anyone else. God loves us all equally, he does not play favorites. Don't misunderstand me, I am not justify homosexuality, but God loves a gay person just as much as Mother Teresa.
Any person struggling with anything in their heart should honestly seek the Lord. He loves you. His help and strength is there for all.

1 Corinthians 13 1-3
1 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it;[a] but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Evan S,
When did I ever try to justify homosexuality. I said God loves the homosexual as much as anybody else. I never tried to justify it "buddy".

Evan S,
Don't you think your response is a little ironic.
read again to yourself. You sounded like just what you said others sound like "high & mighty."

Mary G,
Did you just read the response from Evan S without really reading everything I had to say?
Because, I don't where you guys are coming from with that. I never once tried to justify homosexuality. Not once, read over everything I said .
What you guys are doing though is proofing my point.

Considering that God took us out of many of the same things that worldly persons live by, I don't understand how Christians can be insensitive. We should remember where we came from. We are not better that unbelievers, and must remember to not be judgemental towards others, or they won't listen to a word we say

Because we are not perfect. We are human. I have said before that sometimes we get too emotional on answers. I personally may sound that way when I am trying to get my point across about not limiting what God can do or what he has in store for us.
Its not even meant for nonbelievers- I actually get more emotional with believers whom I think are missing the boat. I certainly don't have it all figured out- but I know the one that does. I want people to realize that. God knows all, does all, can do all. I really don't feel that I have a problem with being judgmental as much as coming across self-righteous.
When answer a question- your putting your feelings and beliefs out there and sometimes the come across wrong..
I also agree it doesn't matter how long you've been a Christian. I always think that an athiest may be Christian tomorrow- if God calls on them. Thats God's timing. What I firmly think is that as Christians we should act in a way that promotes Christianity and not harms it.

You can't pick and choose which verses in scripture you want to adhere to. It's all God's word. 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 6:10 speak directly against homosexuality as well as several other verses. The Bible's not a salad bar, buddy. But yes, I agree, there are some Christians who act high and mighty. I feel they do a great diservice to Jesus Christ and push people away that could have come to know The Lord.

I asked a question similar to this one. I still can't decide which one to choose as best. Maybe you can give me an answer I will be satisfied with. Here is the link:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuGV_cosmkN4k7TfJxX2d.rsy6IX?qid=20070326210737AAGS9sr
I will now do my best to answer this question.
To be completely 100% honest. I think each and everyone of us is guilty of this. I think that it is okay to stand up for what we believe in, in a loving way. I seriously have to ask myself what would Jesus do in this situation? There are times I ask myself that a little late...and then wish I had just kept my mouth shut. Sometimes we do more harm than good when our hearts aren't in it for the right reason.
I think of my life as a journey. A journey to get close to God. I have fallen more times than I can count on all my fingers and toes. I have said something stupid, done something stupid a lot more than I like to admit. Why? Because it is our nature. We were born with sin. I am no better than any other person in the entire universe. I often thank God for choosing me, but then I have to wonder why in the world he did? I don't deserve it!
So anyway, I hope I have answered at least some part of your question. All in all....no matter how many years we have been a Christian or how close we are to God....we are human. We all sin! None of us deserve the gift God gave us, but He gave it to us anyway. I think the key here is admitting when we have done something stupid...not just to God, but to the people we have hurt because of it. I am not sure what else to say, so I will end here. God Bless!!

That's a good question, one I have struggled with my whole life. I have never understood why some branches of Christianity as a whole, look down on others. I guess that's why there are so many different religions. The problem with organized religion, as I see it, is that the Bible has been translated from it's original language. Many things can be lost or contorted in translation, therefore, a passage that I think that I understand completely may be completely different from what you understand. I think that alot of people get caught up in who's right or wrong and forget that God is in control. Everyone SHOULD worry about their own path and place less criticism on others'.

Pride, the root of all sin. You know as well as any bible-believing Christian does. There is a paradox between grace and truth. If we speak the truth with no grace, we are guilty. (I've made this mistake more than once). If we speak with grace but not the truth of the resurrection, we are guilty. But if we boldly and gracefully speak the truth to non-believers, we do fulfill our commision to preach the gospel to every nation of the world. The good news begins with the bad news: We are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and the consequences of sin is death but God has forgiven us (Romans 6:23). But don't mistake pointing out sin as a lack of grace. Sometimes it is difficult to tell and we need to withhold judgment. Only God knows the heart of a person when the preach the gospel. It sounds like you're heart is in the right place. Keep on encouraging and edifying the believers in Christ.

Most people who call themselves Christian today don't even know what the word Christian means. They think it is going to Church once on Sunday and and few times a month on mid-week. And let's not forget Christmas and Easter so they can show off their new clothes. As for the same boat as you say, I'm afraid you are wrong. If you are a true Christian you do not think of yourself as anymore then anyone else and those who don't know the Lord are not in the boat with us because they have yet to except Salvation.

Did you ever hear of the Pharisees?. There are still around today!!!. Jesus warned people about the Pharisees ( Matthew Chapter 23)who were trying to live a self righteous life apart from God. That same attitude and evil spirit it's going working today. Some Christians are modern day Pharisees.

Well, I know that my name here is "Christian boy", but that's not what makes me who I am. Most of them that go around crying out "I'm a Christian" really aren't. The mark of a true Christian is the life he lives, not what he/she proclaims. I agree that some are judgmental when it comes to the Church, but telling somebody to repent is not judgmental. The world has changed the word to sound bad, that's all. To judge the way that Christ called it was to condemn somebody, not to tell them they were doing something wrong. When you let somebody know that what they are doing is wrong, it's not judging.
Being a "Christian" is not what you proclaim on the roof top, it's what you do when you think nobody's looking. Christ himself said "If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true." John 5:31 Even when John the Baptist sent his disciples to inquire of Jesus whether or not he was the one or not, he spent time showing them instead of just telling them.
Matthew 11
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and show John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Notice that John had them to ask” Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?" He didn't just tell them, he let those bear witness. The same should be true of us; you are a "Christian" by what you do, not by what you proclaim. As to telling somebody about themselves, do it in love and not to condemn.

I totally agree. I believe in Jesus, but I am not the fanatic type of Christian, and not only I feel the superiority coming from some of them when talking to me, but also some sort of pity about me.
We are all in the same boat. We all are here for the same purpose. We all are learning and progressing spiritually. If one goes to the church and feel happy, that's OK, he is in his level of spirituality. If I don't go to the church, it is OK too, I am in my level of spirituality. Everybody is right.
Some say: "I accept Jesus in my heart, so I'll go to Heaven", but I am sure that accepting Jesus is not enough. You have to live following His example. Being humble, tolerant, patient, forgiving, being respectful, forgiving, helping others and forgiving some more...
James 1:22
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."
James 1:26-27
"If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
Peace!
