If Noah and his family were the only ones to survive after the great floods, wouldn't everyone technically be related to him and his family?

I once heard a spiritually wise man say, "When you try to please someone, that it means you hate them." This has been the most thought provoking statement I have ever heard and I don't understand it. What do you think, from a spiritual perspective, is this true? Could this be true? Does it make sense?

yes, i do believe in god, but sometimes i have to question some things. because when i watch the discovery channel, they mention that cave people were here first, and in the bible i never saw anything about addam and eve being covered with hair/fur or something, or the bible talking about dinosaurs..............

My explanation! I believe in a single universal God common to all; but worshipped as different entities (deities), religion-wise. I also understand and appreciate the role of religions in propagating its faiths. But religions as of today has an ugly face as a divider of humanity and an asylum to evil forces, baiters of God and squeezers of the knave. Religions have now turned as the supreme commercial entity run by trained personnel with ignorant shareholders. None fights against because of imaginary reprisals from the ultimate power that is God. And God is in fact most loving and benevolent. lileeann33

To believe that we were created by a God is to believe that there is an eternity to infinity, that this entity called God is forever. No end. That is the stupidest explanation one can give for wanting to be SAVED~! Who of you would want to live forever? A child perhaps, because a child has not seen the lines of time that enter into the reality of what life really is. What life really is is an expression. Call it Gods Love if you are so inclined but I will have to tell you that I can see beyond a plan by a God. I can see that WE humans were given this opportunity to live by an intellectual predecessor that knew as do we, that this planet and sun will not last forever. That one day the earth will die, the sun will nova, and yet we have been given a gift far beyond the reaches of some imaginary spirit. We see the order of the universe and see that not all things in the universe are just. But it would do us good to reach out & touch the stars with an expression of LOVE as were we!

Do you live just for this life, or are you concerned with eternal matters?
People prepare for all kinds of things - marriage, house buying, holidays, large purchases, and retirement and old age, and yet all these things are temporary.
How much more important is it to prepare for eternity?

I don't really think he is real , unless I meet him, and hopefully if he is, he will forgive me, I did believe in him a while ago, I'm now 17 almost 18. I don't believe in him that much cause of the question that makes me wonder, if he created us, who exactly created him? Really much now I don't believe that there is a higher being than us, and I dont think someone can create such a sophisticated body. If he created us, then someone created him , and the person after was created by someone else so on and so on. I believe that all this and the bible and stuff was made up to create law , and hope for people.I don't know but thats what I think, can someone explain this stuff to me?

Why is it that christians always have to defend the bible, if it written by 'god' shouldnt it be perfect? How come it encourages slavery, and even has rules as to how you should treat your slaves? Some may say its because it was written a long time ago when this was acceptable. But if 'god' wrote the bible shouldnt he had known that the book is being read thousands of years later? Why didnt he make it applicable throughout time? Theres plenty other examples in there aswell such as child killing, stoning homosexuals and rebellious teenagers to death etc. Why is it so inaccurate???

I’m talking about eliminating the need for big resource consuming open land farming of the animals that feed our populations. Essentially, it’s technology that feeds sensation directly to an animal’s brain, so that the animals can be kept in a relatively small isolated enclosure until they have reached a desired maturity level. This has the advantages of using much less resources to produce much more, reducing exposure to biological agents like virus and bacteria and keeping the animals in ideal condition for their entire lives.

This technology, whilst far fetched and I admit and a long way off has implications that will affect our society because, once the technology has been perfected upon animals, it’s a very small step to using the same technology on humans.

Extension of the ethical exercise where you could go back in time to a point before Hitler became the monster he did, and you had the chance to kill him, would you? Same question, different bad guy. Would you kill Lucifer before he fell if you had the chance? Why, or why not?

Well, I was a Christian, but have since deconverted. I have begun looking around for other answers and have realized that nature in and of itself is truly amazing and awe inspiring whether or not there is some being controlling it. I am wondering if there are any religions out there that worship nature and the power of nature and life force and things like that, because I have felt a special bond to nature that I never felt to anything in Christianity. I feel that if I should bow down and worship anything, it's nature, and I've have felt a greater and greater urge to do so in recent days.

BTW, I'm not worrying about the next life, if it exists. There's too much to live for in this life to worry about that. Even if there is no afterlife and I just rot in the ground, some other life form will benefit from my passing, again, nature's plan.

I'm asking this in relation to this other question:

Why is it illegal to destroy turtle eggs but legal to kill an unborn human baby?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtUxMK7jSnTgAstMVkYLAeDsy6IX?qid=20070323155750AAtYrot

Most people are saying that it's illegal to destroy turtle eggs because they are an endangered species. These "Pro-Choice" people also believe that it's ok to kill the human baby because they think that the world has too many humans in it. I guess they don't have a problem with murder since it takes away from the human population. But that doesn't explain why they are here.

So why did God create me to live in a world of sin? What did I do to be created to live with you who beleve ALL HAVE SINNED? I don't believe this and will not be blamed for your religious stupidity and inacuracies. It is your faith that stands in the way of REAL HUMAN PROGRESS! Mankind uniting to overcome the obsticles of continuation. To me the greatest goal of mankind would be to send life into the universe to prove that Life came from love and that an intelligent spieces developed out of the compassion for beauty that we as humans share. We must strive to place another colony of LIFE somewhere out there if just for the total sanity of all of mankind-otherwise we will die in vain for the LOVE that a former intellectual life gave to us to survive-and I have proof! Just look at the world today and tell me that man does not have the potential to do great and wonderful things, but I also know that we are ALL limited in the time we have to do it JUST LIKE JESUS WAS! We r a star 2!

I have been struggling with this for a long time. I was raised Baptist and I feel that it is time for me to make my own religious choices. Now I have given my life to Christ and I am a very spiritual person. However, I have recently gotten into a relationship with a Catholic boy. This is what gave me that extra push to consider converting. I really care about him and if things would work out like marraige, I don't want there to be any issues with religion. And I am willing to convert. I just don't know if I should? I told my mom tonight, and she wasn't very happy about the decision. I don't know what I should do. This is something I feel really strongly about. Any suggestions?

A puddle wakes up one morning and thinks: “This is a very amazing world I find myself in. It fits me very perfectly. In fact it fits me so absolutely perfectly… I mean its really precise isn’t it? If the hole was just one millimeter smaller or larger I wouldn't fit… It must have been designed to have me in it.”
