Sorry about that. False alarm.
Ignore this request. Giving away free cruise tickets, who would want that?

Besides, I was getting tired of the abortion stuff.

There are more sheets in your mattress, pillow and sheets after one night of sleeping on them than are in an embryo when it is aborted? You are killing a "baby" every time you have a period, or a wet dream? The ancient Greeks had similar discussion that were settled with Hippocrates' argment that preserving the life, and the ability of the mother to be a good mother to any extant children and carry a healthy baby later was worth more to society and humanity than the life of one human embryo which lacks the ability to sustain life on its own. Laws, rules, these are made to ensure the good of society as a whole, while sometimes detrimental or annoying to an individual person. Ultimately, our leaders and government must tackle the issue as a society, not from the point of view of one member. When you argue, do you argue from the point of view of a person, or the society? Does that change your view?

Abort the child, and the child is not accountable for its sins and goes to heaven. Repent, accept Jesus as your savior, and you join your kid in heaven. The only difference is the length of time you have on this earth, and you both enjoy an eternity of bliss for the "sacrifice" made many years ago. Is this theologically correct?

I sort of asked this question shortly ago, but there's quite a few additions to that question here. I am a deconverted Christian (see other question for explanation) and I have assessed what I believe and want to know if there is a religion that fits my beliefs, which are as follows (in order of importance, starting with the greatest):

1. The supreme force in the universe is nature, which controls all life force. As such, nature should be treated with the utmost respect. God/esses are irrelevant if they exist.
2. All humans are equal and should be treated with equal respect (unless they exhibit a serious lack of good character). Humans should strive for the best character possible.
3. Humans should concern themselves with secular issues. We should strive to make the world a better place and progress technologically, but not at the expense of nature (i.e. don't destroy it and don't forget it).
4. (Real) Science is all true. Free thought is a good thing.

Are not Christian?
How about, are pro-gay rights, anti war, fiscally left-leaning, anti-death penalty, environmentalists, vegetarians, people who believe in freedom of religion and people who want to legalize marijuana?
They are.

Does personal existence begin before an identity is formed? For example, as a baby I had self-consciousness, but no personal identity. Was I 'me' or 'that baby which later became me' in this state?

Hi, a schoolmate of mine succumed to Leukamia early this morning, he was a great kid and was only 17. He went through months and months of kemo-theropy, and still lost the battle to it. Any prayers or thoughts would be greatly appreciated for him and his family to ease their pain.
Thanks, and God bless!

Some answers to my earlier question ( http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoVSVj.Ifme_KTs6wv3TUTBFLxV.?qid=20070323095323AA577eD ) confirmed what I suspected, which is that there are some people on Religion & Spirituality whose beliefs are very different indeed from my own.

But despite this I think that it is still worth making the effort to better understand what and why they believe. Because I believe that understanding is the basis for tolerance. And I think tolerance is a good thing. Well, certainly better than conflict.

But I wonder what other people think. Is making the effort to see things from someone else’s viewpoint worth it? What if the other person’s beliefs are so very different from your own that there’s little ‘common ground’? What if you vehemently disagree with them? What do you think?

Polite answers please! Thank you.

I mean, I've heard that Muslims believe they go to Heaven, and so do Christians. For atheists, the kid won't have to be terrified of ceasing to exist because they wouldn't live long enough to understand that concept. So, they do not have to worry about whether they will go to Hell and they don't have to worry about ceasing to exist.

I don't understand why they think that telling a lie about something like that makes for a better argument?

Abortion is a legal medical procedure. Most usually, it is the removal of a zygote or an embryo from a woman's uterus. If you don't like abortions, or don't want one, that is your choice. DON'T HAVE ONE.

Call a zygote a "baby? Call an embryo a "baby"?? Then, call it a sofa or a race-car! Give it any name you want. It doesn't change what it is. And, it is NOT a baby. People freeze embryos by the MILLIONS in this country alone. Would you drop a BABY into a DEEP FREEZE as your property, to use later, whenver you wish? OF COURSE NOT. A REAL BABY WOULD DIE if you dropped it into liquid nitrogen for cryogenic freezing!

You can't have it both ways...you can't define and embryo as property for freezing one day, and a "baby" the next day...

And christians cryogenically freeze a lotta embryos!

Why can't you leave other people to their own lives?
WHY LIE?

If there are two souls in the case of the resulting identical twins, is the second soul created at the time the laser begins splitting the embryo, or when the laser finishes severing the last cell?
