Ecclesiates and Job is chalk full of that stuff. Here some of verses for you:

Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

Heb 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Ec 8:6 Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Jude 1:24-25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Joh 11:40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Every Pauline Epistle has this basic format.
Life(Grace) + Death(Law) is a Dead End.
(Life + Death) - Death is a Living End.
(Grace + Law) - Law = the end written.
Grace only = Life only = Eternal life
Grace(Only) with you all. Amen.

Go ye and learn what meaneth I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: Matthew 9:13 (fr Psalms 40:6; 51:16; Hosea 6:6). Going to Hebrews 10:3-10 we find Mt 9:13 meaneth I will have grace, and not law. Hebrews 10:36 notes do the will of God precedes receive the promise. Hebrews 9 notes that for grace to be of "force" (to provide eternal salvation and eternal life thereof unto all), law has to be dead testator.

Hebrews 11 lists many who did not do the will of God, and the result was: these all died and received not the promise. So it's actually a hall of shame, not a hall of fame. But many, deceived by many shall come...to DECEIVE, will say it's a hall of fame; for they are bound to law to be faithful to law unto death, which is notably "their end": the dead end. If such is what they desire, let them have it, and the sooner the better. God hath given "us" the victory, not them. The Lord is longsuffering to "us-ward", not to them-ward: extinction.

It's kinda like the new tv show called Threshold.
They(afflicted) try to make "us" one of "them".
Not a pretty picture in 1Thessalonians 5:3.

There's obviously two parts: "their part" & "your part".

Your part is to make it to the end alive unto God.

"If any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant"; not you.
If any bring another gospel, "let him be accursed"; not you.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.

Only the creator or maker of someone or something can define it's purpose. Don't ask a refrigerator for what purpose was it created? Ask the designer and manufacturer. Once we reframe the question, we can answer it more simply: For what purpose did God create us?

Colossians 1:16 says: "For by him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." Step 1: Everything was created BY God FOR God.

Romans 11:36 says: "For of him and through him and to him [that's every divine dimension] are all things, to whom be the glory forever. Amen." Step 2: Everything was created BY God FOR God - and the awareness of that reality results in eternal glory to God.

Isaiah 43:1-7 says: "But now, thus says the Lord, your creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel … everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed even whom I have made." STEP 3: Israel [as well as all of us] was created by God for God's glory.

1 Corinthians 10:31 says: “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” STEP 4: Even the mundane activities of our lives are to be engaged in such a way as to glorify God.

This is a starting point. We were created by God for God's glory (i.e., to glorify Him, to reflect and image forth His glory). This is the central theme of the Bible and is a worthwhile study.

Well, there's Ecclesiastes, but he tends to be rather down-beat on the whole thing.
"Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity." (Ecc 1:2)
("Absolutely pointless! Everything is pointless." )

But since "he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow." (Ecc 1:18) perhaps some things should not be enquired into.

Edit: Wow! Ecclesiastes is IN tonight!

get a book called the last templar. I forgot who wrote it. It will put you on the trail for the meaning of life. It is a fiction, well written, but it makes you think. You will enjoy it, but it gets you thinking.

It's in the last Book of the Bible - Revelation 4:11

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power;
for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

Why we were created - for God's pleasure. It is not about us, it is about what God wants. He says if we obey Him He'll give us the desires of our heart. He wants us to succeed.
