Firstborn sons of Egypt, anyone? Children mauled by she bears? Maybe YOU all need to pick up a damned Bible and actually read it. I had it drilled into my head for too many years.

Clearly, they're insincere in at least one of the two beliefs.

So if your such a wise person in the way of bible teachings then why would you ask such a question? Christian rally against abortion because God created life. God knew the circumstances by which that baby would be born but he still has a purpose for that person being born, now just because a child is born into the not perfect settings does not mean that God didn't want that person to exist. In my personal opinon people who abort babies do it purely for selfish reasons. There are tens of thousands of people out there who are more than willing to take on a child that is not there's. Now as to the first born being killed that was because the Egyptian people where not doing as god commanded. And those that did i.e. put blood over there doors there babies were spared.

there are many stories in the Bible that are difficult, and some disagreeable, and some revolting. Japhthah and his daughter is another example. It is difficult to know a) how the Bible expects us to understand it in various passages and b) what we are expected to learn about God. a) the Bible is not all written in an historic genre - the Flood is one example where it is using literary tropes from near Eastern society to make several points. The story of the she bear is not presented as history but as a story of our great ancestors - look how highly God thought of Elisha. It might disturb us that Israelites 3000 years ago thought about God that way, but it shouldn't surprise us.

Christians understand these passages through the lens of Jesus, who said 'love your enemy'. We don't read them literally and apply them literally.

You may not like my answer as well, but I will answer it as objectively as I can without all the religiosity.

In the 10 commandments, God said 'Thou shalt not kill'. The literal Hebrew says, "Thou shalt not murder".

So, taken in that context, there are instances where killing is allowed and instituted by God, such as war and capital punishment.

Along these same lines, if we are to believe that God is the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, then it is His prerogative to administer justice as He sees fit without the counsel of man, for the simple fact that we were NOT THERE when He created the universe. In His prerogative, that justice can include the cessation of life. If your mind is still open to this new way of thinking, also remember that God's thoughts and ways are much more than we can ever begin to comprehend or understand.

Christians are against abortion simply because they believe it to be killing that is unjustified or without reason, simply put - MURDER.

First, if you are addressing God, you use a capital "G". Second, People for the most part are having abortions because they had an "oops".
As for God sending others into cities as describe in the Old Testament. It was his command to purify the area or land of those who wound not follow his Laws or Commandments. I could go even deeper for you into this but, you probably would not understand.

I need to add this: Why were the first born of Egypt sent to their deaths? Simple. Pharaoh mocked God. That is a very bad idea.

“you mustn't homicide.” (Deuteronomy 5:17) What concerning to the existence of an unborn baby?properly, in accordance to the Mosaic regulation, inflicting the dying of a infant in its mom’s womb replaced into incorrect. sure, even this type of existence is efficient to Jehovah. (Exodus 21:22, 23; Psalm 127:3) this suggests that abortion is incorrect. For God, existence is sacred. He believes that till an embryo is a living being unique and distinctive (Psalm 139:sixteen). So the punishment stipulated who do injury to a creature that replaced into interior the womb. So for him to end the existence of an unborn baby is homicide (Exodus 20:13)

God did not command the child murders. He was showing the people that He was God....and u see what happened! a childs life didnt even change Pharoahs heart! God was showing pharoah that God is in charge...not Him and God will choose if He wants His people enslaved or not. it took peoples lives to get slaves free. otherwise...hebrews...or jews...could still be in slavery. God did what He had to do...God has His reasons...and He doesnt reveal them all to us. abortion is a horrible thing...cuz u are killing an unborn baby and snatching the only life they had before they even got to live a minute of it. God had His reasons....whats the reason for abortion...if u dont wanna kill a baby, dont get pregnant! simple as that! but people dont listen...they are only foolish! they only go by the moment and dont think about the life ahead. God had His reasons for the first born child being killed....but abortion there is just no excuse...unless u were raped or something and ur too young to have a baby. but there also adoption. adoption is better than death.

btw, when those children were murdered....He ordered their parents to put sheep blood on their doors...He gave them a warning...and He gave them a chance to let their child live....but many did not listen...and so they got what they got. they disobeyed Him. that is also an example of how important a parent is in the life of their child. if a parents mind isnt set-on straight...how can they raise a child with theirs set-on straight. parents need to be careful of what they do and do take risks...because sometimes it will be their fault that their child no longer has a life.

its not God's fault for the childs death...but the peoples....they disobeyed Him...and God gave them a chance to let their child live! One simple thing they had to do...and they ignored it!

How come these Christians don't know what you're talking about? What about God killing all the firstborn of Egypt? Ring a bell?

According you your very own Bible:

God mudered every first born son of Egypt. Why? To teach a lesson to one man. Perhaps if he had just snuffed the one man in the first place...but that would be evil wouldn;t it?

God sent two she-bears to slaughter a crowd of children who were doing what kids sometimes do: They were mocking a man's bald head.

God supposedly DROWNED every human being on the Earth...a really nasty, horrifying way to die, I might add. Including, presumably, children and babies. Excuse it however you want, the fact is that according to your mythology, God comitted genocide.

Christians believe we belong to God by the right of creation. As a potter may break every pot in his shop, so to God has the right to to take our lives, or any life He so wishes... Jim
