Abort the child, and the child is not accountable for its sins and goes to heaven. Repent, accept Jesus as your savior, and you join your kid in heaven. The only difference is the length of time you have on this earth, and you both enjoy an eternity of bliss for the "sacrifice" made many years ago. Is this theologically correct?

gene_frequency, you're correct, I'm not recommending abortion. I'm questioning the theology of both the age of reason and free will, putting the two together and seeing how people respond. If people are going to believe their theology, they need to get through some tough questions -- or just be able to say, "I don't know" -- like how "I'm forgiven:)" responded.

Wookie, I've left the addressing of the important underlying truths to you.

I think that is what is taught, yes, perhaps "theologically correct."

Of course, I sense that you would not--nor would I--recommend such a course of action. I think you're putting a light on this thought process to help illuminate us all...am I right?

Too many folks practice extreme meanness and all kinds of evil their whole life long, feel little remorse, have no plan for changing (don't feel they need to), call themselves Christian, and feel ensured of salvation at the last day because they have the Savior.

But Jesus warned sternly:
21 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the
will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
----------------
Matthew 7:21-23 (New Living Translation)

So much for saying you believe and then doing whatever evil you please. In Jesus' own words: "Get away from me..."

Father's will is all about love and kindness, IMO. But these scriptural passages we choose to ignore ... and practice cruelty and hatred...a very dangerous practice, indeed.

You have a very warped sense of theology and logic. You are taking two completely separate truths and combining them without addressing any other underlying and important truths. First, you are not addressing the issue of the murder that has occurred. Second, you are assuming that God accepts empty repentance to satisfy a person's irresponsibility and immorality. Third, you are neglecting the value of that baby's life to the rest of the world. Fourth, nobody is given a "ticket" to Heaven like some sports game.

Wow! It would take some serious and sincere repentance!! I can't imagine someone who premeditates a murder can really be all that sorry immediately following the act. Our God is a forgiving God, but you can't just walk around and do whatever you want because you know that tomorrow you can just ask for forgiveness and get into Heaven. You know...following God is not some excuse for us Christians to do whatever we want. Following God is by far one of the most difficult but most exciting things I have ever done. I am in no way, shape, or form perfect! I don't claim to be! I do know that Jesus died to save us from our sins. He was crucified to save everyone..past, present and future. Does this mean we automatically get into Heaven?? No, this means we now have the ability to have a relationship with our Heavenly Father, one that people of the Old Testament couldn't have. Because Jesus died for us, we have a choice...we now can spend eternity in Heaven with God!! As far as an unborn child goes, yes I do believe that poor little baby gets to spend eternity in heaven. I just can't imagine aborting my child just to take the easy way out so I can then turn around and pray for forgiveness........it's selfish and quite honestly disturbing.

Not really.

"Abort the child, and the child is not accountable for its sins and goes to heaven" (annihilationism, assuming suicide is the answer)

"Repent, accept Jesus as your savior, and you join your kid in heaven" (assuming the path to hell is the same as the path to heaven).

The truth is that the knowledge of your soul is the only thing that saves you. As life of the body inevitably continues, it is best to uphold morals that the entire world can benefit from. As for abortion, every specific instance requires a specific thought and action. There are no absolutes in the relative world. So holding to an absolute moral imperative is absurd, judgmental, and harmful to both sides of the party. Have sympathy and compassion, least you experience the same hammer of judgment when your time comes.

Let's assume this is a sincere question. Otherwise we would have to report you for abuse, wouldn't we? Given that this is a sincere question, it is difficult to answer. You seem to know just enough about Christianity to confuse yourself.

No, this is not theologically correct. God forgives sins if we repent. "Repent, accept Jesus as your savior, and you will join your kid in heaven" indicates that you do not understand the word "repent" the way Christians, and, I think, most English speakers, mean it. "Repent" implies recognition that your action was wrong, and sinful; it implies true contrition. You cannot have these thoughts and still do the action. It is logically impossible.

No, that is not "theologically correct".
Does the aborted child go to heaven? I would say yes, of course. God would not punish that little one for your sin.
Can I do whatever I want and apologize, and expect God to forgive me and take me to heaven?
NO! Obviously, you have no idea what "repent" actually means. If I am sincere in my belief, I'm not gonna kill my baby to begin with...but let's suppose, for a minute, that I find my faith in God some years after my abortion. In that case, my repentence would need to be sincere and real, and my remorse for murdering my child, as well. God will not accept fake "apologies".
Sorry.

on an identical time as God won't condemn the baby to Hell, aborting your baby condemns the international to not having your infant's vocation and venture performed. possibly the baby replaced into going to be the subsequent St. Patrick and placed across 1000's to heaven. that is selfish to pick that should deliver various to Hell just to guard against the baby's choosing to disclaim God. And none human beings can totally comprehend the damaging consequences of having killed this type of remarkable baby of God. God forgives sins, yet you won't be able to get into Heaven till you're fairly sorry. that doesn't propose purely asserting i'm sorry, it potential recognizing abortion (or despite the sin replaced into) is incorrect and promising to attempt to stay away from repeating the sin.

Even if you don't repent, isn't it the right thing to do? Sending yourself to Hell to guarantee your child gets to heaven seems like a deal any loving parent would take. Yet christians fail to make this choice, don't they. Is it because they love themselves more than their children? Or is (more likely) because deep in their heart of hearts they don't really know if Jesus, God, Heaven and Hell really exist. I just wish they'd be more honest about their doubt.

Its like the old saying "Everyone wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die"

Technically, I suppose. However, the mother who aborted her baby has no guarantee she will be sincerely sorry for killing her baby. Seems to me pro-choicer's have no sorrow about it. And what happens if she dies before she has a chance to repent? One ticket to hell? That's one stupid gamble if you ask me.......Oh, you did ask didn't you? Oops.
