as described in the story of Noah's Ark could have happened?
I ask because it is impossible for a world wide flood to have taken place the way it is described in the Bible. Even if it did rain for 40 days straight, the entire world would NOT flood. Even if it rained for 1,000 days straight over the entire Earth, the entire world would not flood. Even if it rained for 1,000 days straight, and ever single glacier and chunk of ice in the polar ice caps melted, there would STILL not be enough water to cover the Earth. The reason for this is because of HOW rain forms. Rain does not simply magically come from the sky (as the people who wrote the Bible figured). Rainwater is water that is drawn up from oceans, lakes, rivers, etc. So no matter how much it rained, the water that would be falling would simply be water that was being drawn up into the clouds from the Earth, meaning that rainwater would NOT be increasing the amount of water on Earth.
So how is this story possible?
