as described in the story of Noah's Ark could have happened?
I ask because it is impossible for a world wide flood to have taken place the way it is described in the Bible. Even if it did rain for 40 days straight, the entire world would NOT flood. Even if it rained for 1,000 days straight over the entire Earth, the entire world would not flood. Even if it rained for 1,000 days straight, and ever single glacier and chunk of ice in the polar ice caps melted, there would STILL not be enough water to cover the Earth. The reason for this is because of HOW rain forms. Rain does not simply magically come from the sky (as the people who wrote the Bible figured). Rainwater is water that is drawn up from oceans, lakes, rivers, etc. So no matter how much it rained, the water that would be falling would simply be water that was being drawn up into the clouds from the Earth, meaning that rainwater would NOT be increasing the amount of water on Earth.

So how is this story possible?

Assuming that burial is what happens after they die.
Usually people are buried as Christians or Muslims for example. What about those who never had religion? And whose relatives and friends are just unsure of what religion they were in coz they never mentioned anything about it when they were alive?
Do people just assume then? Or the government steps in and makes a decision?

Isn't it hypocritical to write off donations? If it gives you tax savings, your not really giving anything at all. Isn't the only person killed by a destroyer angel in the New Testament the man in Acts who does not give honestly what he recieved for his property? The man who WITHHELD?

And whats with the veil? Muslim women wear those because Islam says that men have uncontrollable sexual urges. Then a man can agrue that it was the rape victims fault for not wearing the veil? That she enticed him? How can you not see that a law that allows any blame to placed with the rape victim is sickening?

I am not an outwardly religious person, but I need some good thoughts. My father-in-law (an exceptionally kind man), is having surgery tomorrow to repair an abdominal aortic aneurysm, and he needs prayers. His name is Al, and any prayers will be welcome. I don't care what faith you are, what God you pray to, even if you don't pray to a God at all, if you would take ten seconds out of your day and say something for a good outcome for him, I would be so appreciative. He is not old (not even 60), and I am so very worried about his health. I can't offer you anything in return, but I would hold you in my heart forever and pray for you to always have others remember you in bad times.

Is it wrong that I'm not an Atheist, but have been blacking out "God," on all of my money? I'm a Pagan, but I just hate the thought of anyone's god, even any of mine, as a political idea. It's wrong to me.

Hello,
I currently hold a leadership position in my college's Christian organization. One of our members hasn't been attending meetings, lately, I think he is living a life of sin right now because I have heard he is going to parties and engaging in hook-ups with various women around campus.

We miss having him around and feel offended that he has left Jesus. So I was wondering if I could get advice from the Christians on here about what the best way to perform an exorcism is? Do you need any special supplies, or does it require a certain number of people. Also, how can I make sure that Satan has left the body?

Thanks!

These are GREAT! please take the time to read some of them.
Christians Beware: Reading these could make you feel rather foolish.

There's no reason, in theory, why god's presence couldn't be measured or detected in some way. The only reason that believers claim that god "can't" be detected in this way is because god *isn't* detected, and so a vast and intricate rationale has to be devised to explain this vast, loving, eternal, all-powerful "something" which is, in every external, objective respect, indistinguishable from nothing.

If atheism is a religion then abstinence is a form of sex.

doesn't it seem odd that the "evidence for the existence of god" is completely hidden from the greatest minds who spend their professional lives exploring how the universe functions, yet it's perfectly clear to uneducated simpletons who have access to the internet?

humility = believing that the entire universe was created with you in mind

What do these names mean to you?
Are they the same?
If someone called you one of these names would you think it was a racist remark?
If you do find these to be racist remarks is it ok for one white person to call another white person these names like blacks do with the n word?

Doesn't really matter. God remembers.

Can you describe God, as you honestly feel God is actually, that way?

Is God masculine-feminine?

A singular being?

Can you describe the very Nature of reality with an honest well thought out method?

Can you religious types tell us why the bible goes back a short period and leaves the rest of mankind out of the bible for the 65,000 years prior to Christ and the Old testimate ?

Can you do all of the above without quoting any Bible ? :)

Leviticus 18:22 says homosexuality is wrong and Conservative Christians use that to condemn it. But Leviticus and Exodus also sanction slavery (Lev 25:44; Exo 21:7), yet we hear nothing promoting that practice, why? If you say that the slavery verses pertain to another time, then why can't you say the same about the homosexuality verse? Are you not simply following the parts of the bible that suit you and dispatching with what doesn't? Didn't Jesus say love thy neighbor and let he who has never sinned cast the first stone? Yet today's Conservative Christians would willingly put to death a gay man if they could get away with it (as they did in Wyoming in 1998).

My girlfriend of 5 years last night decided we needed a break. I am an active person in my church and have a strong faith. Just recently she started going to another church that is somewhat fanatical (and you know what i mean). She went on a trip with some girls from her small group and they asked about me. They asked if I was on the same level religously as she is. She said no. Then the girl proceded to tell her that God told her to leave me because she cant give God her whole heart if i have a big peice of it. We have always been in church, its just recently she has changed drastically. She told me last night that we are unequally yoked and she needs time to further her relationship with God. Doesnt unequally yoked mean a believer with a non-believer? It doesnt add up.I also want to add that every girl in her small group does not have a boyfriend. Her mother and sister think she is taking things way too far. What do i do at this point. Is it a phase?Whats goin on?
