I agree w/ you. They get to blame sombody else instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. You know in some Muslim countries rape victims are killed for having sex outside of marriage, they can't even charge a man w/ rape unless they have 2 or 3 male witnesses. In other countries rape victims are imprisoned for having sex outside of marriage & they must have male witnesses to support their claim of rape. Disgusting, isn't it.

There are many reasons for Muslim women adopting the veil; but it is unfortunate that the western society have misconstrued the reasoning and the fact that women wear the veil as oppressive and an infringement of their right. Leading to such comments as made by yourself. There is much debate surrounded upon the need/use for women to wear the veil in today's society; but nevertheless I feel whether a for religious reasons or not, if a woman has chosen to wear the veil then she should be free to do so. Is it not oppressive for women in the western society to conform to a social norm of dressing in a certain manner be in the sense of fashion, size, makeup.

I don't quite know where you got the 'veil stops women getting raped' idea.
Most western women don't wear veils and rape isn't particularly common (fortunately).

Interestingly, Ed Sullivan would only show Elvis from the waist up during his first Sullivan appearance because his gyrating hips would have caused uncontrolable lust in good Christian girls...

The veil isn't the problem it's people who sing and dance around rules and regulations for their own convenience.

well, first of all you have it all wrong.
You don't have to like our rules, you don't see women complaining, I think they know whats best for them way better than you.
If you don't like the rules, than too bad, deal with it.
Mary (may god be pleased with her), according to all christian arts use to cover her hair, does that apply to her as well. Or was she also oppressed.
