near death twice. The first time i had a 40% chance of dying but i'm still here. I still don't believe in the christian god even being that close to dying. thinking back, it was peaceful. knowing i might die but i wasn't ready.

Are you afraid of death? wether you are christian, atheist, pagan, whatever you are. I find death to be peaceful but i don't want to go anytime soon.

A man is sitting with his wife who is on her death bed. There is very little time left. She asks him one last question. "Dear, you know how important fidelity is to me. Tell me the truth - please - have you ever cheated on me?"

Unfortunately, the true answer is "Yes, I have."

What would be the ethical thing for the husband to do?

Feel free to answer from a religious or non-religious point of view.

Sorry if this is too open-ended. I'm not sure how much it would vary with time.

This is posed for people who read and understand the Bible. I need some advice.
It has been said that the Old Testament advocates archaic laws, slavery, killing your children who speak against you, etc..
What is your intepretation of these ancient issues? Do you believe the Bible is outdated, and it is up to modern interpretation, or do these notions have some symbolic meaning? What is your take?

What should I take from the Bible? It is an intimidating text with so many interpretations. Sometimes I feel that fire of the Holy Spirit, and sometimes I fear the flame.

I am Episcopalian and I have both the KJV and NKJV. Are there any study guides that are not so conservative in their views and geared toward Episcopals? I am a former Catholic and as you know Catholics rely mainly on the priests for Bible interpretation-- one of the reasons I left Catholicism.

Any wisdom on these issues?

My history teacher is always starting arguments about different things, but this time he took a stand against fundamentalism (if that is the correct word). We were studying the Scopes Trail, and after watching some movie, he started asking us pretty personal questions. We would give pretty good answers, but then he came up with "If the Bible is literal, then what is a preacher for?" We stated they are the same as a teacher, although there is a text book, the teacher should still teach (this is funny because he rarely actually teaches). What would you have said?

It's only flag man.. Everybody relax. These strange times remind me of the episode on Star Trek where Cpt.Kirk meets his anti-matter self. All hell broke loose on board the Enterprise.( I remember in the final scene all the electricity that flew out of them as they wrestled.) Thank your sweet stars Kirk came out of it O.K. He did matter more than the anti-matter Kirk.

(I put this here because this is the only place I post and answer questions. I don't get it. There is nothing on my 360 page, and I never go there.)

So why do you guys connect to others on 360? Are people out there actually connecting with others and making friends through this process?

You must understand, though that this Martian is from a non-religious culture. They only believe inthings they see - they are very scientific!

If you say that the Alien would not choose any religion because the Earth's religions are just for Earthlings, then which religion do you think the Alien would agree is the correct one and why?

What if the Martian said that all of our religions were rediculous, because he knew better and then proved it!

There is actually a story that says Jesus visited Glastonbury, England as a child. I actually knew an Anglican Bishop who said he believed this was true.

Do you believe this is true?

I don't many people here will say that think there is any basis for this myth.

But do you know anyone who believes it?

Here is a link to an article about the myth:

JN 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 2

no matter what your religion or faith, even if you are an atheist, don't you think that you owe it to yourself to do your own homework and go about it honestly? Why let someone else fill your mind with their opinions, do the research and learn about it for yourself.

What are your thoughts about this suggestion?

I'm a pretty diverse in my beliefs, but Judaism has always had a place in my heart. I haven't been to a synagogue in almost 4 years (need I say Oy Vey?), but would like to start going again and I want to start my 2 year old on the path of exploring diversity or religion and spirituality. Any one know of where I can go?

Historians are always saying that history is unreliable. The accounts we hear or read about go through so many changes and that ideas and understanding about many things are always subject to change.

There are even groups today, for example that claim that the Holocaust never even happened, even though the history books and video footage show it!

Historians say that historical accounts are even more unreliable when they make incredible claims...

And if the claims are literally unbelievable, it probably wasn't history at all, but rumor or legend!

In order to be a Christian, God expects us to believe a historical account of Jesus, but also the historical references of hundreds of unbelievable miracles throughout the Bible, even though it is not advisable to believe them according to those who understand history the best?

Why does God tell us that we have to believe so many historical accounts that are so very unbelievable?

(I figure if I misspell 'Atheists', I'll get more replies.)

Christians frequently posit that atheism's appeal lies in its lack of morality or ethics, that an atheist can do any fool thing he likes without consequence. Anecdotal evidence suggests that this is not the case.

What moral/ethical system do you use? How do you justify it? What is your basis for understanding what is good/bad?
