Karl Marx interpreted the human life and behaviour strictly from materialistic angle and thought that faith is blind and people with out reasoning follow the religions. However, this experimentation in Soviet Russia failed and what ever little is left in China will soon explode like a volcano when the people in China would revolt against the totalitarian regime. The truth is that religion is just not an opiate for the people but their faith in the force which is beyond human control.

An opium junkie is a mindless zombie. Mindless zombies do not protest against the bourgeoisie. According to Marx, religion is keeps the masses at bay which reduces the chances of revolution. Also, once someone is hooked they will do anything to to keep their fix.

Karl Marx said it this way; "Religion is the opiate of the masses." He believed that the church aided the gentry in oppressing the common man and that man would never be truly free until the last monarch was strangled with the entrails of the last priest.

Religion is powerful, kind of like an addiction imo. It has the power to:
Control
Destroy
Bring hope
enrich lives
In a way, some people NEED religion to fill their lives.

It is Karl Marx who said that religion is opium for the people. He must have said it in the light of the years of Crusades when people killed people in Eurasia in the name of religion.

Because it comforts people irrationally by manipulating their senses to believe almost anything, to crave a fix every week, or every day, to trust and have faith in imaginary (hallucinations) and if they get attacked for their beliefs, they start jonesin' till they get another shot of holy spirit power.

because it gives people hope in their existence in the 'after life'. some are so miserable in the life they have now and need to feel there is more outside what they have. they are so arrogant that they need to feel that their existence supersedes that of the here and now and are in the center of some gods attention.
let the thumbs down begin!
