JN 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 2

Thank you for showing how God is working in everything. When our 'enemies rise up against us' He is still in control...Glory to GOD!

Christianity is a meme, and a very successful one because it is so good at convincing its followers into believing they are special, and even noble for keeping their belief despite likely persecution. The scripture you quote is one example of this, where it prepares the followers for persecution and convinces them to be brave in the face of it.

As for the world "hating" Christians, I would say that there is a wide range of attitudes towards the various sects of Christianity from the different cultures of the world, just like there is a wide range of attitudes towards the various sects of Judaism, Islam, and other religions.

Many Christians in the U.S. like to portray themselves as being persecuted within the U.S., which would be totally laughable if it weren't for the fact that its a effective manipulation that moves the U.S. closer to becoming a theocracy.

And let me be clear: I don't hate Christians, but I hate the idea of ending The Great Experiment of the U.S. as a free and diverse nation, and that is what would happen if the U.S. became a Christian theocracy.

You know Steadfast, if someone truly hates me for my faith, so be it! I receive all the support, love and everything I need from the Lord God. I choose not to allow anyone or anything to detract from that which I hold most dear; my relationship with God. I cannot help but love "everyone" - when I so love the Lord my God! I know of no enemies. I feel no hate. I see what hate is doing to others. Only by loving "everyone" will hate be dissolved. It is not about us and/or them! What happens to them happens also, to us. We are all connected, joined together by one common thread, "God".

I don't think the world hates Christians any more than the world hates Muslims. Its their actions that are hated. When an individual does something atrocious in the name of "God," people often confuse what they've done with their religion.

I have to say that these questions get old. While Christians are sometimes ridiculed and ostracized, they do a good deal of ostracizing and being rude towards other religions or groups as well. (Gays, Muslims, Atheists, etc.) Some Christians seem to have an "I'm the victim" attitude, and forget that they can be just as rude towards others as others are towards them. It goes both ways.

Why not try to make a positive change in the world, instead of feeling condemned by it?

"34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. 35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." - Matthew 22:34-40.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 5:16.

"But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil." - Luke 6:35.

"But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile (...)" - Romans 2:10.

"Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you." - 2 Corinthians 13:11.

"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men (...)" - Galatians 6:10.

"See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men." - 1 Thessalonians 5:15.

"Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it." - 1 Peter 3:11.

Do not seek to separate yourself from the world and seek to be hated by it. Seek to do good things in the world and to be a benefit to it and, according to what you believe, you'll find your good deeds repaid.

No religion goes "unhated." Even Buddhists monks were persecuted against during the Vietnam War.
