There is actually a story that says Jesus visited Glastonbury, England as a child. I actually knew an Anglican Bishop who said he believed this was true.

Do you believe this is true?

I don't many people here will say that think there is any basis for this myth.

But do you know anyone who believes it?

Here is a link to an article about the myth:

Glastonbury is a place of wonderful history. It was believed to hold the veil into Avalon for the Celts. This long and proud history as a sacred place has been hard to give up. The idea that Jesus would have traveled there as a child is nearly impossible given his place of birth and status. I don't believe he did. That doesn't detract from Glastonbury's history but I can see where the story came from.

I don't think it's true, but the logic goes something like this:

Jesus' uncle was Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy tin and metal ore merchant of the time, who supposedly had a fleet of ships and spent a lot of time travelling the world on them.

It would not have been difficult for Jesus to go along on a trip or two.

Of course, we have no way of knowing whether such a thing ever actually happened.

A side note is the possibility that Mary Magdelen was the wife of Joseph of Arimathea, and that she was also the women who was caught in adultery, and saved by Jesus from stoning.

Evidently, waiting for one's husband to return from long sea voyages can be sexually frustrating.

If there's any truth to the story, that would make Mary Magdelen Jesus' aunt.

So much for Dan Brown's DaVinci Code theory.
