How would life be if the Catholic Church had never made up the Bible, or if Muhammad had never claimed to get messages from angels, or if Buddha had never claimed to become one with the universe, or the Hebrews had not made up incredible myths about their heroes?

What if it were just us people, with no ancient writings about God?

WHAT IF MAN HAD BEEN LEFT TO HIMSELF ???

Just you and the universe...

Just, what you see is what you get...

What would the world be like?

Anthropology was my first major in college back in the stone age.

I remember reading the first article about Johansen's discovery of Lucy, and I watched with amazement as the incomplete skeleton took her place in the hominid evolutionary scheme.

That's when I changed majors. What happened to the testing?

Why do we allow a 2-dimensional representation of life color our judgments of new discoveries? (By "color" I mean to say the theory prejudices our findings.)

Is this because scientists are unable or unwilling to conduct new tests?

If all scientists agree that evolution is a reliable explanation of life, and if during peer review a new discovery caters to the theory, has the discovery ACTUALLY been peer reviewed by an unbiased, neutral body?

Yeah, i dont wanna sound like i'm being insensative, but if we have all our emotions, senses, personality, and thoughts and intelligence how could that just be evoulution??... it just doesn't make any sense to me. And dont use the Big Bang theory as being caused by science, someONE had to have something to do with it, how could it be nothing and then all the sudden, be everything, its rediculous..... please, no a-s-s-whole answers... be NICE please.

If that's the only reason for living, it's a pretty sad state of affairs...

Without religion, man's purpose for life would be to LIVE IT!

Some would say that being a Christian IS LIVING - and it is, but it's living a "Christian" life... Very limited tunnel-vision...

It's not just living life....

We should learn to live without any influence from books that claim to come from any "God."

Stop using the pascals wager.

It's bloody annoying and make us theists look bad in general.

What's so great about pascal's wager anyway? Is it as great as pascal's badger?

Let's stop with this silly argument and deal with more important things........like inter-faith harmony for example.

Most of you have heard about the man claiming to be Jesus Christ Man- Dr. Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda.
My question is... he claims to be Christ and the Anti-Christ at the same time. He has his followers tatoo the number "666" on their bodies, the supposed number of the antichrist. Isn't that a contradiction? Does anybody understand this?

But then, what's science anyway?
I mean, it's only a rigourously tested, peer reviewed system of knowledge about the way our world works, built up over centuries. That's all. It's not a patch on mindless superstition which has been around for far longer and has brought us exciting things like ghosts and demons, witch-trials and the tooth fairy and of course - God.

We all know that God plays an ineffable game of chess on the Earth of which we are mearly the pieces...

but, you play games with your friends right?

He has used 'satan' to his own advantage many times, the garden of eden, avenging angels in the destruction of cities and the like...

we are so small and insignificant compared to God, do we know that he cares so much about one soul? you only have to look at a military leader to see that they are wlling to sacrifice the few for the many

God is more than capable of killing the Devil himself, he is omnipotent...

how do you imagien their relationship, surely satan is the nearest equivalent to god...dont they have alot of things in common?

i think god intentionally picks on me (in a bad way) because he's expecting me to do something amazing and i haven't yet. i've been dreaming this since forever now and i think i'm getting really close to my moment where i change the lives and beliefs of many people. i can feel it. but this task is seemingly impossible because it depends on two others (they don't know) but i have to carry it all. i don't know if i can make it happen. if i fail, i am destined to live a life of constant unhappiness. if i accomplish it, the outcome is...words cannot describe. so many thing can go wrong if i don't do it just right. someone must have the words i seek to be the catalyst.

Christians are not stupid, Most of us have gotten proof that god exists. The other night at my church, My pastor couldn't even preach because the church broke out in a whirlwind of tongues and shy people were dancing and screaming words they didn;'t know, my own freind was speaking in tongues and jumping up and down. That's proof that God is alive. Believe what you want but I believe that God is real and when I die I'm going to heaven
