Stop using the pascals wager.

It's bloody annoying and make us theists look bad in general.

What's so great about pascal's wager anyway? Is it as great as pascal's badger?

Let's stop with this silly argument and deal with more important things........like inter-faith harmony for example.

I think the fact that people seem to reinvent the wager on the spot is very telling of the religious mindset. I'm not saying all do it, mind you, just like I am not saying all or even more than a few muslims are prone to blow themselves up.

But there does seem to be a nontrivial correlation.

Yes. Good idea. On the other hand, instead of "inter-faith harmony," you might try asking questions and accepting answers. Just a thought.

It is sort of pragmatic, and I don't believe a relationship with God that is built on pragmatism will last.

It is in our best interest to serve God, but love should be the motivation. If one cannot come to Christ out of the realization that forgiveness is needed, with gratitude for God's mercy and blessings and His love, there is little chance that the relationship will be lasting and meaningful.

Fear may motivate, but it does not save. It is the opposite of love, and hinders spiritual growth.

Adia...what is your problem with it. I know that some are playing a drinking game with it, but really its just an ideology or philosophy or point of view. It does not hurt us and dismissing it DOES make us look like the unenlightened, unintelligent people the atheists claim us to be.

Please, please do not say to me, he is not mentioned in the Bible...I know that.

You mentioned Pascal's Wager so I must drink. They use Pascal's Wager to scare and manipulate people to their religion.

Yes and unfortunately many who use it don't realize that you could apply it to *any* religion or *any* God...that I believe is one of its major flaws. That and it assumes that God would reward and punish people simply on what they professed to belief whether or not they actually did believe it. Surely any deity would be able to tell someone is just professing a belief to cover their own butt.

As a PAagan who leans towards non-religious logic, I thank you.

It assumes too much and displays a lack of all things logical.
