But then, what's science anyway?
I mean, it's only a rigourously tested, peer reviewed system of knowledge about the way our world works, built up over centuries. That's all. It's not a patch on mindless superstition which has been around for far longer and has brought us exciting things like ghosts and demons, witch-trials and the tooth fairy and of course - God.

This maybe true for Christianity however Islam encouraged the Arabians desert Nomads to explore the world around them. Muslims translated and preserved many great works of the Europeans. This is what helped them to advance in many fields such as Medicine, Chemistry, Maths, Astronomy, Architecture, Philosophy, Poetry and many others it is no exaggeration to say, without the contribution of the Islamic world there would have been no European Renaissance. In the process of gaining knowledge Muslims created two very noticable institutions the Universtiy and the Hospital.

“The early Muslims are credited with inventing distillation and could distil just about anything - from alcohol to perfume. Hygiene is very important in the Muslim world so they invented and manufactured soap - centuries before the West - and hundreds of bathhouses were built throughout Muslim cities. They understood the fundamentals of light and how we see, and gave us the camera obscura. They invented algebra and worked out the angle of the tilt of the earth. They built the first windmill, pioneered the concept of the crank rod, and designed the first ever torpedo. Muslim creativity also led to the invention of a unique instrument called the astrolabe – it could find the direction of Makkah, tell the time and, with the help of the stars, navigate you across deserts and oceans. But perhaps most important of all they pursued the cause of knowledge, translating and preserving the works of the ancients and building the world's largest libraries – their 'houses of wisdom'.”

Bible and Science do not contradict each other.

• Earth began as a water world. Formation of continents by tectonic activity described (Genesis 1:2-9, Psalms 104:6-9, Proverbs 3:19, Proverbs 8:27-29, Job 38:4-8, 2 Peter 3:5)

• Water cycle described (Ecclesiastes 1:7; Isaiah 55:10, Job 36:27-28)

• Valleys exist on the bottom of the sea (2 Samuel 22:16)

• Vents exist on the bottom of the sea (Job 38:16)

• Ocean currents in the sea (Psalms 8:8)

• Air has weight (Job 28:25)

• Winds blow in circular paths (Ecclesiastes 1:6)

Science is important...
Though some of the things in science are hard to understand,It is an important tool too understand the things around us. The problem is when people use it too disprove obvious thing like a designer and try to measure time when their is no way to see if it accurate. Believe in science, not the scientists that give lame proof. Check the facts yourself.

The goal of science is to gain a greater understanding of the world around us. Science only wants the truth.

Now that's scary. Science is turning Fascist like Fundamental christians.

Trust you Americans, to use something as a way of controlling people rather than a way of helping them.

I think the real problem is using science as a tool to attack religion, the fact is there is no evidence to support the existence or non-existence of a god, it is wrong to simultaneously proclaim the virtues of science and make assertions which are not backed up with any empirical evidence, science should be publicly neutral on the issue of god.

Science is try, test and either fail or find something new, basically. It's choice whether you believe it or not, but through science we have found some pretty sound facts.

Your use of sarcasm will not be understood by the religious fools - if they can't understand the logic of science, then mild sarcasm will be right over their heads... shame, nice ironic argument that... pearls to swine lol

What kills me is that some people are obsessed with science as if that will solve all the problems that ever existed

Most of the science that we learn is the little kiddy stuff, the "big guys" knows all the cool stuff which they oppress to keep folks ignorant and always thousands of steps behind

What a joke
