A left over from evolution? Or does it really have a purpose? I'm a Christian and I believe that God would not have put it there if it we did not need it. What do you think?

IIf my understanding of Revelations is correct, then there will actually be two Raptures.

The first of these upliftings will occur when God Raptures the forgiven. With the forgiven in Heaven, a period called the Tribulation will begin during which those who have found God in the wake of the Rapture, will battle the forces of Satan. This conflict will cumulate with Satan’s forces pouring down the Jezreel Valley, from the city of Megiddo, towards the forces of God, which are afraid around the city of Jerusalem.

Immediately before Satan’s forces breach the defenses of the Christians, God will rapture the defenders, descend to Earth and defeat the forces of Satan, thus beginning the 1,000 year reign of peace.

Since God will rapture all those who die fighting Satan, and who survive until the end of the war, there seem to be no negative consequences to missing the first rapture, so long as you convert afterwards.

If you observe evolution in bacteria, do your conclusions automatically apply to humans?

(Yes, I actually did read the PNAS source given, and it was inadequate in scope.)

Today I was for the first time in attendence at the Theatre for International Christians. I'm surely a believer, but many women around me were praying loudly by themselves, eyes closed ,with thier hands raised high, doing some intense meditation by themselves (praising GOD loudly), even if the pastor was speaking from the stage or during singing praise. I thought it was a disturbance, bcoz I was purposely there to listen and reflect to the pastor preaching. Are these people having more faith than the others in the room?
I was feeling like awkward because I''m a Christian who doesn't go over the top in public showing the intensity of my faith. I have more concentration to worship in private.
Is such public worship and extravagance necessary ?
Do I lack faith, for not behaving like them?

I used to be a strong Christian who was in love with my precious Jesus and filled with the power of His Holy Spirit and who studied the perfect scriptures daily and who also prayed and fasted often - and who enjoyed the fellowship of Christians. I "felt" God's presence in my life.

But, through my experiences with other cultures (travel) -not like a missionary who goes somewhere with the intent of evangelization - I began to realize that over 4 billion people did not believe as I did. Were they stupid? Were they goingto Hell? Did they have rebellious hearts?

I found it was not so. They had valid reasons for their OWN beliefs. I actually did open-minded research on my own religion and found so many holes that all I hadleft was my faith alone (strong faith)!

But in a few years of still more travel and meeting people outside my Christian reality, I was blessed to be able to see myself objectively. Today I am agnostic and love God more than ever!

God is bigger than Christianity!

and he is part of god, before he existed AS Jesus, he was God, right?

then before we existed as people, we were part of God too, right?

so when we die do we return to being part of God then?

God also made the angels and the Devil too, didnt he?

so does it matted which 'side' we are on? if we are good or evil, cos everything is God anyhow?

I had a conversation with a guy online, (check out alan ives on youtube.com), who's apparently dedicated to getting rock music, backbeats, boogie-woogie, etc, out of church praise and worship, and it worries me that people are misrepresenting church to today's youth. Can you support your answer with Scripture? Much appreciated!

I have written evidence from Mesopotamia that human beings had life spans of about 200 years or more from a source outside the Bible.

I have written evidence that some of the pharoahs in Egypt reigned in excess of 90 years. Ditto for Chinese rulers in the Bronze Age.

If human beings are evolving, why do we need extensive medical care in today's world to live 80 or 90 years (and why is our life expectency only 60 years in some countries with medical care equivelent to Bronze Age technology?

Sometimes I have a long list of reasons and people to pray for. To avoid forgetting some of the above, which I often do, is it acceptable to write these things in a notebook so that I can pray over the book or read off of the list. Or would that be inappropriate and too new age like? Thanks

If it is so damn important to Him, than why doesn't He provide proof of His existance?

Did you ever consider that He does not possess the human characteristics of jealousy and self-centeredness?

I believe there are many roads to God. He does not care which road you take, or if you take no road.

Would a supreme being want to spend eternity with ignorant sheep who will believe anything fed them, or intelligent souls that seek knowledge and truth?

Something happened to me about a week ago. I was at the grocery store, and as many faithfuls do, I was wearing a symbol of faith. It looks a bit like this charm here: http://tinyurl.com/28dyze

While in the check-out line, this woman ahead of me turned to me and said "Interesting charm. Is it a representation of you and your baby?" Right now, I'm in my second trimester, so I'm showing. Flattered, I smiled and replied "No, not exactly. See, I'm Pagan and this is a representation of the Mother Goddess. Her belly is big like this to show her abundance of nature - to put it simply."

Her looked changed completely. She scored at me and said "No it's not! You're wearing an idol!" Which I thought was funny since she was wearing a crucifix. I tried to explain to her that I don't worship anything physical (especially the charm), that it was simply a symbol of my faith. I was about to mention the representation of her Deity on a cross, but I thought better of myself.

The only real answer to this was an estimate: 3 out of 175 mutations are destructive.

How many are constructive? And how do you know?

Aren't all the destructive and constructive mutations permenant changes in a species (or group of species)?

If so, you've fallen far short of considering the question. You've given a faith-based answer without using your enormous intellectual gifts.

We are here because one odd group of fishes had a peculiar fin anatomy that could transform into legs for terrestrial creatures; because the earth never froze entirely during an ice age; because a small and tenuous species, arising in Africa a quarter of a million years ago, has managed, so far, to survive by hook and by crook. We may yearn for a higher answer -- but none exists.
